Rossiter promises revenge at Blunsdon after defeat

DEFIANT Alun Rossiter promised an improved performance from his rusty' Swindon side after their heavy defeat against Ipswich Witches last night.

Rossiter admitted he was disappointed with his side's efforts but credited the loss to his rider's lack of race practice.

The Swindon boss also backed the returning Troy Batchelor to come good despite a tentative' performance from the Australian on his first ride back for the Robins since his elbow injury.

Ipswich surged into an 18-6 lead after four heats and had the meeting effectively wrapped up after 10 heats - eventually winning 54-39.

But Rossiter claims it will be a different story when Ipswich visit Blunsdon on Thursday night.

"I am sure we can do the business back at Blunsdon on Thursday," said Rossiter.

"We were rusty tonight but on home terrority and after some of the lads have had a couple of rides elsewhere I am confident we will win and get some revenge.

"We didn't gate well tonight, it was a bad meeting.

"But I can take some positives from the meeting. Stojanowski rode well and it was good to have Troy back.

"We did not expect anything from Troy, he had a tentative meeting but that was to be expected. I am sure he will come good.

"To be fair to Ipswich they rode well - that was proven by Piotr Swiderski beating Leigh Adams twice. However, it will be a different story at Blunsdon on Thursday."

Honours were shared in the opening heat when Piotr Swirderski took victory ahead of Swindon's Leigh Adams and Joel Parsons.

However, the hosts blasted into action in the next three heats with consecutive 5-1 victories.

Tobi Kroner and Chris Schramm combined to easily see off Parsons and Krzystof Stojanowski in heat two while Jarek Hampel and Steve Johnston combined for a one-two ahead of Mads Korneliussen in the next race.

Heat four saw Ipswich stroll into an 18-6 advantage after Parsons was excluded from the first run after locking up ahead of teammate Batchelor.

In the re-run, Batchelor failed to stop another Ipswich 5-1 as Miskowiak and Schramm extended the home side's lead further.

Swindon boss Alun Rossiter was forced into using his tactical ride in heat five - the move paying off as Adams pipped the previously unbeaten Hampel with McGowan in third for a much-needed 7-2.

Swindon's joy was shortlived though as Ipswich celebrated another two straight 5-1 victories in heats six and seven.

Swiderski and Miskowiak came home ahead of Stojanowski in heat six with Batchelor failing to finish for the Robins.

Miskowiak won the next from Kroner with Korneliussen in third and Wright propping up the back.

A brief revival saw superb rides from McGowan and Stojanowski cut Ipswich's lead after beating Schramm and Swiderski.

But Hampel's win ahead of Batchelor and Johnston in the next along with Ispwich's sixth 5-1 of the night in heat 10 courtesy of Kroner and Swiderski all but wrapped up victory for the home side - ahead by 40-23.

McGowan and Adams provided some resistance in the next heat, team-riding to wrap up a convincing 5-1 ahead of Miskowiak and Kroner.

But it was all too little, too late for Robins as Ipswich completed the formalities en-route to a comfortable home victory.
