Jerel Ifil has been a player this season who looks short of confidence.

Last Saturday his distribution was largely disappointing and he rarely found a red shirt.

Ifil has been at the club for years and on his day he is a class act but this season he hasn’t been at his best.

He is no longer a first-team regular with the emergence of Sean Morrison, who has formed a solid partnership alongside Gordon Greer.

If and when Greer leaves, Ifil is going to have to step up his game and fill that void.

I hope Danny Wilson can give him that confidence back so he can play like we all know he can.

If the manager decides that Ifil doesn’t feature in his first-team plans then he may look into bringing Michael Nelson in from his former club Hartlepool in the summer and he is a player we have looked at before.

Against Crewe,Town’s downfall arose from a complete lack of creativity, in what can only be desribed as a dire game.

Town were lucky to come away with a point.

Crewe could have easily been ahead at half-time with three good chances.

Swindon struggled to break Crewe down and didn’t look threatening all afternoon.

I must admit my surprise when I heard Michael Timin had been given man of the match by the sponsors.

Greer and Phil Smith were solid throughout the enitre game.

Greer’s assured presence in the defence and his calming distribution in his build-up play show what a solid player he has been since coming on-loan.

Smith also pulled off some crucial saves at critical times and saved Town from losing the game with another pivotal late stop.

We have a difficult game at Brighton today.

Unfortunately, they had a big result on Tuesday which will undoubtedly give them confidence going into the game.

However, I believe that if we can leave Brighton on Saturday with a point then that would be a good result.

The key for us staying up is the home games, if we can pick up points at home then we can remain in this division.
