Bhoys bid for Cox and Morrison rejected

TOWN have turned down a reported offer of £1.2million from Scottish Premier League giants Celtic for the in-demand Simon Cox and youngster Sean Morrison.

The County Ground outfit are believed to want £2.5million for Cox alone, meaning the reported double bid is well below Town's valuation.

Reports in Scotland have also stated that Town have had an £80,000 bid for Hoops defender Scott Cuthbert, currently on loan at St Mirren, rejected, but that some form of swap deal remains an option.

I fully agree with you Graham,do they think were fu*king stupid or what,i like the idea that were stating at least 2million for coxy maybe we should of stuck a 3million price tag on him and stated that no-one should bother wasting our time with joke offers such as Celtic`s.

guys if something has a price tag of £20 on it... and you want to pay say £15, you don't offer £15, you start at a tenner!

The wonderful world of haggling...

Swindon Town have decent players who can command a fee. I guess my only disappointment would be to accept that, in simple terms, we are what you might call "a selling club"..
In addition to the Cox / Morrison story there is a strong suggestion that Newcastle are monitoring a certain Callum Kennedy...It may come to nothing but I would hope we would work hard at keeping our young players to help us get out of the third tier of English Football. Morrison Included.

Let him go and get a pre-season friendly as part of the deal, as it will save me having to travel across the UK to support one of the biggest clubs and supported in the world.

All you bumpkins could all squeeze into the Town End and the 15,000 Celtic fans could take the rest of the ground and would generate an atmosphere never seen in these parts before. Forget the £1.5 million generated at the BIG weekend, the mighty hoops army would double that in beer alone and I' have a short taxi ride to join them. Come Flitton 'think big' for a change.

Anyway, for someone who cost you 200,000 pieces of corn last year and the chance to make well over a million, as easy decision to make.

If COX had any ambition he'd go and have the chance play in front of 60,000 fans screaming 'hail hail'.

This is a tough one for me, a Celtic fan who spent a lot of time in the Town End this season.
Morrison is the real prize in this package, Cox whilst producing some great performances is a work in progress. Morrison is class and will make the step up with ease. If cox is worth 2.5 million I rate Morrison at 4.

how about f-ing off and stop being arrogant, just because you are a so called fan of a so called big club. by the way, we proved today that we are thinking big and we have ambition by not giving in and letting our best talent go for peanuts. also cox want to play in the premier league, not play for the second best team in Glasgow against opposition who the top teams in our league would give a run for their money

Thankyou and goodbye

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, Celtic and Rangers playing in the Premier League and getting the same millions as the others, at least it would be more than a four (well sometimes) horse race. Too many other clubs would be scared that another two big clubs would reduce them to virtual mediocracy.

Who we playing today the likes of Hull, Stoke or Portsmouth, or would you like Celtic / Rangers, fairly easy decision for any sensible fitba fan!

So the two scots clubs should join the EPL. Try starting in the english non league & earning a place. All they want to do is scavenge at the table of English football. You know, where we have more than a 2 team race every season. 1.5m Sod off.

Firstly, why would they ever want to play in such a joke league. Nobody can say that the SPL is good.

Secondly, will they get in the 1st team. I very much doubt it. So whats the point in going there and playing in the reserve.

more than a 2 team race, history shows that there has only been 3 teams to win the league other than the top four sides that are there now.
Everton, Blackburn and Leeds, where are they now ?
Everton and Blackburn aim for 5th or 6th each year and Leeds........well in the same league as .......mmmm STFC.
Let's face when the money goes, so will the talent.

Between nevermind and cheftoimpress you are a complete pair of plums. How can you seriously defend the SPL when you say its only ever a four horse race at best down here? Is it because half way through your season your table splits in 2 to let the top teams play each other again and leave the bottom sides who probably have no or little money and would need the gate receipts of the Glasgow teams! Still your league remains a 2 team farce how very boring and dont think you would set the Prem on fire your only good against the equivalent of the Championship top end. You sing sectarian songs about the british, you know the race you belong too. Praise the IRA and all the hunger strikers and fly the tricolour all round your ground, the last time i looked Parkhead was in Scotland!!!
Save your comments for when Rangers (who are proud to fly the red white and blue of our lands) win the title.

Surely with the class of cox and morrison and the poor standard of the SPL everyone has been saying surely if celtic put in a decent bid and is accepted these 2 players would surely be 1st team regulars?
celtic or rangers i couldnt care less who wins the SPL.As i said in a previous post that OTJ agent must have read why would he want to go to barnsley or sheff weds DW get a move on and we can sign him.i also agree with another post that Hughes has paid his dues so give him a chance to come to the town if he wants

FACT: We have publicly stated that Cox's valuation is £2.5m on his own. So Celtic should respect this and only come back when they are prepared to negotiate at or around this figure. Anything less is royally taking the p**s. What's worse is that they are trying to get another player who's value is also 7 figures for the same price! This aint no Pikey market, thanks thanks but no thanks. All the banter between the 2 clubs is pointless because we're in 2 different countries let alone the same division and the fact is that if you lot can't pay the value we have placed on our star player ten you won't ever get him - simple aint it?

Who ever said that the Jocks are tight, so, so funny!!! Anyway, why would Cox and Morrison want to go north of the border to play teams of a lower quality than is already in Div 2. Norwich, Leeds, Charlton, Southampton, well even Swindon get bigger gates that 90 per cent of the SPL, and out of principle I couldn't play in front of hairy pro IRA supporting jocks.

Hey Jock, you certainly know how to win friends and influence people dont you? Why dont you take your 1.25million and go stick it up Mr Strachans ar$e?!! Even if you offered the going rate for Coxy and Morrison (which your club obviously cant afford) they would be crazy to go up there and play in your tin pot league! Dont let your big crowds go to your head Jock, because there are only 2 clubs in Scotland so not much choice is there? Now pi$$ off home to the gorbals and dont come back unless you have something intelligent to say!

Celtic are undoubtedly a very well supported team, no English team (even the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United) would get 60,000 turning up to see some of the opponents Celtic get in the SPL. But realistically they'll be out of the champions league before anyone notices (no wins in 20 odd away games isn't it?) and the prospect of playing the likes of Hamilton, St Johnson, and St Mirren isn't gonna tempt anyone to pick them over the chance to play in the championship.
