SWINDON Robins riders Matej Zagar and Jurica Pavlic hope to give their 2010 Grand Prix prospects a major boost in today’s qualifying semi-finals.
Both are in different 16-man fields in Sweden and Latvia respectively as they try to earn a place at the top table for next season.
In-form Zagar, fresh of the back of another exceptional week in Swindon colours, takes his chance at Motala in Sweden.
The Slovenian lines up alongside the likes of fellow former Grand Prix riders including the host nation’s Antonio Lindback.
Swindon’s Danish asset Morten Risager, currently with Belle Vue Aces, also rides as do former Blunsdon performers Jonas Davidsson and Russian Renat Gafurov and current GP rider Chris Harris, of Great Britain.
Pavlic, currently suspended from riding for Swindon, features in Latvia, with Poole’s Danish rider Bjarne Pedersen, Wolverhampton’s Fredrik Lindgren and Poland’s Jaroslaw Hampel.
Former Swindon riders Adrian Miedzinski and James Wright also feature, but another ex-Swindon man, Sebastian Ulamek, has been ruled out of the Swedish event.
The Grand Prix rider suffered a broken shoulder blade when he crashed during Rospiggarna’s Swedish Elite League match with Indianerna on Tuesday night.
Ulamek is one of a handful of withdrawals from this weekend's two semi-finals, with Danes Patrick Hougaard and Leon Madsen, and Swedish prospect Thomas H Jonasson also pulling out.
