North Wilts Golf Club is celebrating a unique double by providing the current county presidents.
In what is believed to be a first, not only for a Wiltshire club, but also the south west, Malcolm Nixon and Phoebe Lumley have been elected to the prestigious posts.
Nixon a member of North Wilts for 30 years, captain in 1996 and a past Wiltshire skipper will serve for two years.
Lumley, a stalwart member of North Wilts since 1956 and lady captain on two occasions,also captain the county in 1972.
North Wilts chairman John Spiller said: “Not only are they wonderful supporters of their home club but they embody everything that is good about the game of golf.
“The level of administrative involvement at county level by members of the club demonstrate the commitment to county golf, and receiving the Golf Mark.”
Meanwhile, four members of North Wilts’ junior section have qualified for the regional finals of the National Skills Challenge 2009.
Jack Baldwin and Toby Lock will compete in the 12-14 age group, while Edward Howell and Dan Kostyszyn go through in the aged 15-17 category.
The regional finals will be held at the Kendleshire Golf Club on Monday, July 27.
