WEST Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has spoken of his delight after completing the £1.9 million transfer Swindon Town striker Simon Cox.
Town's 32-goal top scorer was confirmed as a Baggies player this lunchtime, joining on a two-year contract, plus a further two years' option after passing his medical at the Hawthorns.
Di Matteo told West Brom's official website: "Simon is an exciting, young talent with bags of ambition, hunger and determination.
"He has a very good goalscoring record and I think he will be a great asset for our team next season.
"I've seen him many times and he has the ability to do well in the Championship.
"He had a lot of interest from other clubs, including one or two Premier League clubs, and we are very happy that he has signed for us.''
Town will receive a guaranteed £1.5million straight up, with a further £400,000 due in performance-related add-ons. That will equal - and could surpass -Town's record transfer fee received from Manchester City for Kevin Horlock in 1997.
