OLIVER Townend and Flint Curtis showed the form that carried them to Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials glory earlier this year to take the lead after the first day of dressage at the Barbury *** International Horse Trials.
Townend and the 13-year-old grey, pictured right, owned by Edward and Robert Nicholson took the lead, with a score of 46.4.
Piggy French, the first rider of the day to go under 50, had led the field until that point on Chase the Moon with 47.3.
Great Britain’s Olympic pairing of Daisy Dick and Spring Along also broke the 50 barrier to score 49.0 which pushed them into third place.
Swindon-based Australian Paul Tapner, on Tiger Flynne scored 63.8.
