KEVIN Amankwaah is expecting his normal torrent of abuse from the Huish Park faithful tomorrow, but Town’s right-back is determined to finally have the last laugh at Yeovil’s expense.

The 27-year-old played more than 50 games in the green and white hoops of the Somerset outfit during the 2005/06 season before a move to Swansea City.

The Glovers’ fans have never forgiven Amankwaah for his switch to south Wales, and the defender is desperate to taste victory on his former stomping ground and silence the boo-boys.

“I always enjoy going back to my former clubs because it gives you that incentive to do well,” he told the Advertiser.

“But I get a bad reception at Yeovil and I don’t know why.

“I did well down there and Swansea came in and gave me the opportunity to go to a bigger club.

“I thought the fans would appreciate that but obviously they didn’t and I’ve got booed every time I’ve gone back.

“They give me abuse, especially on the far side opposite where the benches are. But I don’t mind getting booed - I don’t care.

“Unfortunately though since I left Yeovil I haven’t won a first team game there, so it would be good to go there and get something from the game.”

The former Bristol City, Cheltenham and Torquay man has been a key player for Town this season with some impressive performances down the right flank, but it was a different story last season as Amankwaah and his teammates suffered a torrid 90 minutes at Huish Park in a 1-0 defeat.

The full-back is confident Swindon are “better equipped” this year to cope with any Yeovil threat, and believes all three points could be heading back to Wiltshire tomorrow.

“Last year we let ourselves down and it wasn’t a good performance, but it was on the back of us having loads of games,” said Amankwaah.

“It wasn’t a good day for us but hopefully we can go there on Saturday, put in a good performance and come away with the three points.

“We are better equipped this year to go there and come away with something, and we feel if we play to the best of our abilities we can beat them.”
