IT was anything but unlucky 13 for Jamie Cox last night as the Swindon Southpaw eased to yet another professional victory, seeing off Manoocha Salari at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

The 23-year-old went into the bout without a blemish on his 12-fight record and kept the impressive stats in tact with a disciplined performance before his opponent was withdrawn at the end of the third round with a broken tooth and damage to his jaw.

Cox was in complete control when the fight was stopped, and believes he is almost ready for a British title shot.

“It was a good win and it all went really well,” he told the Advertiser.

“I felt good, fought well, stuck to the game plan and it all came off.

“He (Salari) didn’t really want to come at me and when he did it was only out of desperation, so I had to bide my time and be patient before I went for him.

“We tried to do things a little bit different this time and it’s great to see them put into practice with another win.

“I want to be the best and I want to fight the best, and this will only help me in my journey towards a title shot.”
