BREAKING EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Rossiter quits Robins

ALUN Rossiter has left Swindon Robins to take up a post at Elite League rivals Coventry Bees.

The Robins manager, who has led his side to four consecutive play-offs, told the Advertiser that the move was motivated by family reasons and that the opportunity on offer for him in the West Midlands was too good to turn down.

“You get to a point in your life when you have to ask yourself what direction you are going,” he said.

“I’ve got to a point where I’ve got three beautiful children, and they are my life now.

“An opportunity has come along for me to branch out and do more and it is something that I have to do.”

Rossiter will take up a role as Bees team manager jointly with Colin Pratt. And the man who rode, captained and managed Swindon over 15 years revealed that the deal was completed so quickly that it has taken even him a little by surprise.

“It’s only happened in a week,” he admitted.

“It’s happened so fast that I really haven’t thought about next season.

“I’ve briefly looked (at Coventry’s riders), and it’s very similar to their team last year and they didn’t do too badly.

“They made the semi-finals but came up against a very good Swindon team.”

Rossiter was this afternoon due to be unveiled by Coventry at a news conference at the Brandon Stadium.

And while he is thrilled with the chance to stretch himself further professionally, the new Bees boss confirmed that he would initially find it hard to separate himself from the Wiltshire club.

“It’s a fresh challenge and it could lead on to bigger and better things,” he said.

“It will be hard for a little while because I’ve gone from being mascot to riding to being captain to team managing to co-promoting and I’m very proud of Swindon.

“I’m not distancing myself, I’m still going to live in the town and commute.

“Swindon will always be special to me, but sometimes you have to move on.”

What a shock, although some of you long term supporters may not be.I reckon Rosco was coerced to go myself and what with Leigh out of the GP's, maybe he'll co-manage the team with one of our Bosses! Who else is out there that is avaialable and capaable of leasding us to the 2010 title?

No great loss, Rosso was given everything he asked for by the promoters over quite a few years, and sill never won anything apart from an award for the biggest and most embarrassing gob in speedway, and now I would love to see Adams play some sort of part in a joint management set up.

Regardless of all the back stabbers, ROSCO has done a very good job-in the top four for the last four seasons,-many elite league managers would give their right arm to be in such a regular topspot. lets just hope that there is no intention of inserting Ronnie Russell in his place .---ROSCO THANKS FOR THE FABULOUS LAST FOUR SEASONS-you did your bit you can"t do any more than that-GOOD LUCK IN YOUR NEW VENTURE-THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Good luck Roscoe and thanks for what you had done at Swindon. And he certainly tried his best contrary to what some people are saying on this forum. You can have your opinions but it certainly ain't good riddance the guy tried to win us a title but at the end of the day its the riders who ride the bikes. Whatever Roscoe done he always had Swindon close to his heart and no one could criticize his passion. I would agree that a change was needed for both parties as he could not take this club any further so a fresh face is needed here at Swindon. There should be no shortage of interested parties due to the stature of this club. Ive always been impressed with Pete Adams a very level headed guy and treats the riders well.
