HASNEY Aljofree admits he is unconcerned about Swindon’s plight now, as the defender looks to get his career back on track with Oldham.
The 31-year-old had his County Ground contract terminated last week before promptly signing for the Latics, and could feature tonight as the two sides clash in League One.
Aljofree is no stranger to pulling on Oldham’s blue and white shirt following a loan spell with the club in 2007, and is now fully focused on pulling his new employers away from the drop zone.
“I have been out for just over a year and I just can’t wait to get back to playing football again,” he said. “Obviously, it (the position in the table) could be better. But we have got games in hand and if you get one win, that can soon snowball for you.
“The lads are all sound and the manager Dave Penney has them all in high spirits.
“I saw it (the Swindon game) on the fixture list and sometimes football brings these sorts of things around. But I am not concerned about Swindon now and my focus is on Athletic.”
Former Plymouth and Bolton man Aljofree hasn’t played a first team game since December 2008 due to a serious knee injury. But he is confident of getting back to full fitness and believes Oldham was the right move to make.
“I have never been injured before and having a year out of the game is mental torture.
“The rehab process was a very slow one and a lot goes through your mind. I am just glad I am out of the woods now.
“Working with the surgeon and the fitness coach at Swindon I made sure that everything was done right.
“I had been looking for a move for a couple of months and had a few offers here and there. But I wanted to make sure the deal was right.”

Why would he focus on us anymore, he's got a new club. Nothing story. Best of luck, shame it never worked out for you here.

Oi Den for 1963 read 2010 bar the miserly defence!! Brillaint. Listening to Radio 5 last night talking how 90% of clubs cold go bust. Not that I haven't realised it but its just incredible to support the Town at the moment. The world is good and the only way is up. ps how are Colchester allowed to play on that pitch? its like going back to the 70's!

A return ticket after that to get you into Swindon before games is over £120 which is disgusting. Not to mention getting back after game. Hope you can make it tonight as think it'll be good chance to get 3 points and town play well with big crowds.

the_gloves wrote:Just a tip, if you're travelling out of peak hours in future for whatever reason... get a single off peak from Paddington to Didcot Parkway, and a seperate single from Didcot Parkway to Swindon. It's cheaper (About £20 from memory) than going from Paddington to Swindon or vice versa.
