DANNY Wilson has called for a sense of perspective at the County Ground following two defeats in four days.
Despite losing back-to-back games against play-off chasers Bristol Rovers and Milton Keynes Dons, Swindon are still well within the promotion-chasing pack and have only been on the wrong end of a League One scoreline six times this season.
Manager Wilson believes many clubs would love to be in their position, and is confident Town will “get back on the horse again” straight away.
“March hasn’t got off to a great start, but people can’t start getting carried away,” he explained.
“We’ve had two defeats out of 15 - let’s put things into perspective. We are in a very good position and one that a lot of teams would love to be in.
“That is down to ourselves. We’ve got the players, we’ve got the quality, and we just need to get back on the horse again.
“We fell off for a minute, but will get back on, ride it again and see what happens.
“We are in a terrific position, and I don’t see how anybody can get downhearted about anything.
“We got beat at MK Dons, who would love to be in the position that we are, and the pressure on them is far more than what’s on us.
“But at the same time we are in there, we want to stay in there and finish above whoever’s in seventh place. That is the aim.”
Wilson has already added Portsmouth winger Matt Ritchie to his ranks in the emergency loan market, and admitted Swindon’s search remains relentless for cover at right-back and central midfield.
Liverpool full-back Stephen Darby is understood to be close to a temporary switch to the County Ground, and Wilson told the Advertiser: “We can’t look any harder than we are at the moment.
“That will continue as we know we’ve got to bring players in, and that showed against MK Dons.
“Stuff is happening now and again, and then you get disappointments. Football is always the same in that respect, but I have maintained throughout that we have to get a player of quality in that will help us. And that won’t change.
“I’m optimistic in bringing somebody in before Saturday, definitely.”

I guess from my post that I was leaning more towards the cautious side of the STFC management team and speculating as to whether Promotion to the Championship this season fits the stage the Club is at now? Certainly not a criticism, as I think that everyone involved at the Club is doing a fantastic job. I guess if we can go up this season, the most perfect way would be via the play-offs, mainly due to the extra finances that route can provide. Also I would imagine there is more revenue to be gained from the second tier with perhaps consistently higher away support coming to the CG each week and hopefully an increase in home support. On the flip side, my only concern is whether the extra income is compatible with the extra costs to the Club in playing at that level. Surely we would need a bigger squad and some better players to perform well at that level, otherwise, I'd rather have a Div 1 team pushing for Promotion each season than a Championship team floundering in the bottom third. There are some very big Clubs with huge support in that division and I just wonder if we're quite ready to mix it with the big boys at this stage?
You make some good points, Viking Red, but I have a feeling that the board are actually more ambitious for the short term than you think. I would put it slightly differently from you. I reckon the board are keen to get promotion - and the additional revenue that goes with it - as soon as possible, but that they wouldn't consider it a serious setback if we don't go up. On to more immediate matters... the new signing seems to be just what we need. Wilson will have learned from Tuesday's mistakes. He will field a full strength team at Brighton on Saturday and if they all show the right attitude we will win.

as many clubs ie Brighton?leeds?Stock
port have entered the loan market and done ok, as i said before these players will be short term loans so wages etc I guess must be within the club structure. The deadline is almost upon us
The 2 defeats as you say from 15 aint bad at all.
It's just that we allways seem to be told the smae old story or we have missed the boat.
This season in my mind has been thee first since 2004 where we have not had to worry about relegation.Granted exception when Malpas took over we were in the top half heading for a faint hope of play offs however after his first several games we struggled.
DW as as fans we are so so pleased where we are placed in the division. All we need is an honest answer will we get additions to assist us getting to the play offs???? if not we will as most of us feel give all our suppor to the existing squad and you as the manage, with a big thanks to our Chairman
