SWINDON College Old Boys manager Martin Peaple admitted that it would be great to give leaders Broadmoor Staff “a bloody nose” at the weekend when the two sides square up in the Berks/Bucks & Oxon Premier, writes PAUL TITCHENER.
The Old Boys go into the tie with aspirations of infiltrating the top two, and will be hopeful of another good result against Broodmoor after beating them away earlier in the season 27-15.
“That result caught them on the hop,” said Peaple.
“They didn’t take into account our good pre-season form.”
The Old Boys will go into the clash without a few key players, including Matt McKee who has a hip problem.
Scrum-half Michael Calvert is also a doubt having injured his hand last weekend against Gosford All Blacks, although he will be assessed again prior to the game.
Despite the player losses, Peaple feels his side are going into the game with a strong belief in their own abilities to force a favourable result.
“We are going in with a positive attitude,” he said.
“We have a fighting chance of beating Broodmoor as we have done it before.”
With Broodmoor having fielded a consistent line-up throughout the season, Peaple said that perhaps they were now slightly predictable.
“We know how they play, but they also know how we play,” he said.
“So it will be a tough game whoever they put out.”
