SWINDON have quickly moved for a replacement import following the departure of Toivo Suursoo, by swooping for Swedish winger Jonas Höög.

Measuring up at 171cm and 75kgs, the 24-year-old boasts an impressive points return in the Swedish Division One during recent seasons spent at Botkyrka Hockey, Arboga and Nacka HK, while he has also played for Chamonix in the French top flight.

In the 2008/09 campaign in Sweden, Höög bagged the most goals and assists in Division One with a 24+54 return from 27 games.

Before signing up with the Wildcats this term, the free-scoring winger had amassed 12 goals and 14 assists in 19 games for Nacka HK, placing him second in team scoring.

“This is not the first time I have spoken with Jonas,” said Wildcats player-coach Aldridge.

“In fact, it is the third time this season and I am delighted to have him put pen to paper.

“He also comes highly recommended by players that know the league.

“He is a younger guy that should bring energy to our line-up. It's clear to see that he knows how to put the puck away.

“It has taken time getting him to Swindon, but I am sure that he will be worth the wait.”

Höög will arrive in the UK on Boxing Day and will make his debut once international transfer and league registration paperwork have been accepted by the sport's governing authorities.

Wildcats’ next game is at home to Basingstoke on December 27 (face-off 4pm).

SWINDON general manager Steve Nell will run the bench for the legends’ team for the 25 seasons of ice hockey celebration game on January 2.

The former Wildcats man, who also played for Solihull and Basingstoke, retired following the 1995/96 season and made the transition to the coaching and administrative side of the sport.
