CHARLIE Austin converted a second-half penalty as Town came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to League One play-off chasers Peterborough this afternoon.

Lee Tomlin finished off a well-worked move after 18 minutes to put Posh ahead, before Austin missed two gilt-edged chances to level matters.

But the striker made amends after the break with an emphatic spot kick on 71 minutes after Matt Ritchie had been brought down.

Austin also hit the post deep into injury time as Town cranked up the pressure late on.

Here are the key moments from today's game:

Six mins: Chris Whelpdale half-volleys a yard over from the edge of the area.

13 mins: George Boyd threads a delicate ball through with the outside of his boot, and Craig Mackail-Smith shoots low across goal. Phil Smith tips it behind for a corner but it might have been going a shade wide anyway.

18 mins (GOAL 0-1, Tomlin): George Boyd spins David Prutton in midfield and lays into the path of Lee Tomlin behind the defence, who cuts inside and lashes underneath Smith.

19 mins: A dipping free kick from Alan Sheehan is palmed round the post by Lewis.

24 mins: The recalled Simon Ferry feeds Charlie Austin 12 yards out, and it looks a goal all the way, except Austin snatches at his shot and it sails off-target.

28 mins: Town's players are looking around for a flag while Mackail-Smith saunters through the middle. Phil Smith is switched on though, and parries well from the front man's half-volley.

33 mins: Jon-Paul McGovern intercepts in midfield and slides through for Austin. Again, you'd put your house on the youngster scoring, but he shanks high and wide.

43 mins: McGovern twice drives low across goal on the angle. The first effort is blocked at the near post and the second somehow deflects to safety.

50 mins: Vincent Pericard makes space on the edge of the area but slices across the ball with his left peg and it zips well off-target.

59 mins: It's not exactly been a thrilling start to the second half but Sheehan tries to correct that, smashing a piledriver wide from the best part of 25 yards.

60 mins: Town's biggest goal threat is the left-back at the moment. Sheehan curls a beautiful curling free kick towards the far post, only for Lewis to get the faintest of fingertip-touches and direct it past the post.

67 mins: Posh captain Grant McCann appears to bundle over McGovern in the area and he was certainly nowhere near the ball. Everyone in the County Ground thinks it's a penalty, except the man who matters, referee Roger East.

71 mins (GOAL 1-1 Austin pen): Matt Ritchie fools Mark Little hook, line and sinker in the box with a delightful turn, and the Peterborough right-back scythes him down. This time it is a penalty. Charlie Austin shows signs of nerves after his earlier misses, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot.

83 mins: It's as close as we've come since the goal. Tommy Rowe's stinging, deflected strike flies just the wrong side of the upright.

90 mins: Town are piling on the pressure and Lewis saves well from man of the match Andy Frampton.

95 mins: Austin is inches away as he slams Sheehan's low cross against the upright. Agonisingly close to a winner.
