No loan move for Boateng

First published in Sport Exclusive by

ARSENAL starlet Daniel Boateng will not be joining Town on loan before the transfer window shuts tonight, the Advertiser understands.

A deal had been agreed last week for the young defender to make a temporary switch to the County Ground, but Arsenal then requested to delay the move last Friday until earlier this week.

However, the Gunners' hierarchy have now decided to keep Boateng at the Premier League side for the time being.

That means Town are unlikely to bring in any further new faces following the loan capture of Ahmed Abdulla from West Ham.

However, boss Paolo Di Canio is likely to re-enter the loan market when the window opens next week.

Probably though steer clear after last night's performance on and off the pitch.

Personally and hopefully its not sounding like sour grapes - a more experienced player would be a more sensible option anyway.

Oh dear and I bet the fracas last night did not help matters. An injury to Flint would cause a major problem for Town with no cover. Can't see Risser playing there so what happens next. Very sad to see Timlin packed off, and just wonder what the feeling is in the dressing room. I bet Connell will be next to leave and he did not even look at Di Canio when he was dragged off after 30 mins last night. Never a dull moment at Swindon Town these days.

so i wonder if the rumours true of Ritchie going to Huddersfield.

Sorry to see Timlin and Awankawah go to me we need players who know the lower leagues and i think would have done good job.

Why on earth would a promising young player from Arsenal join us on loan? Please get real.

We could hardly sign a player from Wroughton on loan at the moment and the ridiculously negative comments from most of the posters on here are clearly not helping.

Decent hard working players are being shipped out. Crazy stuff in the tunnel. 2 wins out of 7
I'm starting to feel a bit uneasy

Sorry Joey, don't understand what you're getting at.
Boateng was going to join us, Arsenal have pulled the plug, the reason why, we don't know.
Are you implying that any potential loanee reads the comments on here and makes his decision on whether the comments are positive or negative?

Still need a left back and an experienced centre half ala Gordy Greer if you ask me. Could be long old season.

If Arsenal's performance against Man United was anything to go by he was probably scared of Paolo's strict fitness regime. Plus he was probably quaking in his boots watching Paolo giving big urn Clarke a good hiding in the tunnel!

boeteng would have been a coup as I cant remember the last time we signed a player from arsenal.
Hopefully we can get someone experienced in just as good.
comazzi could still adjust and get better as could devera, although I have my doubts about the latter.

In the meantime trying Risser at CB is definately worth a punt

Hence my question at the start of the posts on an article this morning - most of the responders wanted a more experienced player......although not sure how we get one I'm in total agreement.......not that it means a great deal! :-)

Pdc's connections with top league managers and his experience as a player were quoted as a plus point on his arrival, as if players were anxious to play for him.
Never happened and he now seems to have an opposite effect.
When he goes Bodin may be our only effective choice (not a bad choice though) even if only for a trial period. (If time allows!)
Then again the present MU manager was one game and one goal away from the sack at one time..
Gel is what players put on their hair so there should be a time limit for the PdC to work his 'magic'.

Nice to see Gordon doing so well for Brighton. One of the best players of all time for STFC and a decent bloke as well. We need about 11 Gordon's at STFC.

Agree. At the moment I think we are weak right down the Centre. Sorry, but smiffy is a liability at the moment between the sticks. We need an experienced CB. Someone like a Calderwood or a Taylor (or a Greer dare I mention the name again) who can shout and organise. We are still short of a 20 goal a season striker. Still work in progress.

we need a win on saturday big time.

if we dont get three points i personally think it wont be long before di canio is on his way.

Paul Bodin will lead us to promotion. he should have been given his chance.

Big losses with manks and timlin going , they were committed players to the cause not like the losers we have signed pre-season.
