SWINDON TOWN left back Callum Kennedy knows Barnet will be ready to punish his side if they start dreaming of a day out at Wembley during tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area final second leg clash.

Town go into the game as favourites after securing a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Underhill last month, but Barnet have hit form to win their last four League Two games, and Kennedy knows the job is not down yet.

“It has been drilled into us 100 per cent that we have to be focused because they will be coming here full of confidence and it will be a very hard game,” he said. “This game is massive and all the lads know that because we all want to play at Wembley. It is a childhood dream so I hope we get the win even though it is going to be a tough game because they are on a really good run at the moment.

“When you are young you want to play at the biggest stadiums in the biggest games, and to play there will be amazing.”

While Town will be hoping to book their place at the national stadium tonight, Crawley and Cheltenham will be looking to stamp their authority on League Two when the two sides meet at the Broadfield Stadium.

“We wouldn’t mind a draw between Cheltenham and Crawley, but we are just concentrating on ourselves at the moment,” Kennedy said.

“With Southend slipping up and drawing 2-2 (against Plymouth at the weekend) it added that little bit of influence as well which showed how important our three points against them were.”

Kennedy partnered new signing Luke Rooney on the left flank for the first time in Town’s 4-1 win at Roots Hall, and while the promising partnership will be broken up tonight because Rooney is cup tied, Kennedy is happy to be playing alongside the 21-year-old.

“It is the same with Raffa (De Vita) as well, because when someone is playing with their right foot it means I can overlap and they can go inside,” he told the Advertiser. “I think he is going to cause the full backs some trouble because he is very direct and has a low centre of gravity and is choppy.”
