THE PAOLO DI CANIO COLUMN: Reaching Wembley

Seeing all of the fans run onto the pitch to celebrate with us after the Barnet game was an amazing moment.

Obviously there was a lot of expectation on us because everybody thought we should be in the final.

At the end of the day we deserved to go through and the best team reached the final.

At the final whistle I felt very relaxed and free because all of the belief and hope of the fans came together, and it made everyone very happy.

We wanted to reward the fans because they came in numbers to support us.

At every single moment during the game they showed their support for the team very well.

We needed this and they proved they are very important and a massive part of the club, because the team felt this situation.

It was a special atmosphere very similar to the Wigan game, and I hope they all keep coming to support us before Wembley.

We want the County Ground to be packed out with numbers because we are going to play every game like it is the Champions League final, and we need their support.

After 20 minutes for me, I talked to my family and started working straight away after the game.

I had a very short evening because I did not have time to celebrate, but there was enough time to celebrate with my players and the fans.

I did not put too much energy into celebration because I had to focus all of my energy into our next game against Barnet.

But now we are at Wembley it will be amazing for us to have so many fans there cheering us on, and it will be amazing for us to have the chance to move the population of Swindon in so many numbers, maybe 25 or 30 thousand, to Wembley to watch us play the final match.

We want to bring the cup back together and show everyone what we can do.

We will do it together and we will be trying to make the Town proud because so many people did not expect us to do well, but even when we were struggling at the start of the season we thought we could do well in the league and the cup.

That makes me very proud and I am proud for my players, the staff and the board and everyone who works hard every day to reach this moment.

The fans are very crucial because they have their part in it.

It would be great to see all our allocation sold but please can we refrain from the 'part-time' supporters jibes.

I suspect there will be a lot of youngsters going to this match and for some it may be the first time they have seen Town play. Please don't knock these people they could become the regulars of tomorrow.

Going to Wembley to see a match is a massive treat for kids, going to Wembley to see THEIR team is even bigger and will be etched in their memories for many years.

Please don't bang on about not coming to the CG regularly, there are many reasons for this especially when you have kids (I couldn't afford it for a long time and had to miss several years).

March 25th will be a great day, let us enjoy it and cheer the Mighty Reds to victory.

The difference between this Wembley appearance and the play offs is that we have around 6 weeks of League games in between. Hopefully some of the new fans who are going to Wembley will also come along to some league games and boost the crowds. This can only be good for the club, especially with a fairly relentless schedule of home games coming up.

Have to agree - you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Someone during the week was ranting and raving about 7000 tickets sold being disgraceful (although over 10,000) showed up, then you have ST holders complaining about plastic fans coming, which do you want??

I missed the Barnet game (as I've missed every Tuesday night kick off at the CG for the past ten years!) and will miss Barnet away but be back for Accrington. Anyone who goes to Wembley though, even if it's their only game of the season, will still be bringing revenue to the club and it's got to be a good thing. I'm sure we'd all prefer to have 36,000 in red at Wembley rather than seven or eight thousand. Although by some of the comments on here, you'd need to fulfill a ridiculous set of criteria to call yourself a "supporter" (i.e. never, ever under any circumstances miss a game regardless of whether you live in a different country or have just been made unemployed or whatever). We all support the club because it's the one we love, it's not a competition!

I'm looking forward to seeing that massive Johnstone's Paint vase dressed in red and white ribbons, sitting proudly in front of our 2012-13 team picture. We need to win it first, of course.

I just wanted to say somewhere as PDC has mentioned it, and that it was John Terry who should have resigned pending the outcome of the court case. It would have solved this problem.
Now we are in a position where a player is more important than the team.
