SWINDON TOWN: Town's cup clash to be televised

SWINDON Town's Capital One Cup clash with Brighton on Tuesday, August 14 will be screened live on television.

Paolo Di Canio's men face Gus Poyet's Seagulls in the first round of the newly rebranded League Cup at the County Ground four days before their League One season gets under way, and the game will be carried live by Sky Sports.

Good stuff for me, always hard to get to midweek games not living in the town - some revenue for the club too.

I dont think it will dent the attendance, people will be gagging to see town play their first game of the season... regardless of whether its league or cup...

More money for the club and I can't wait to be there. Move next Tuesday and will be sorting season ticket out. Looking forward to seeing if Greer can turn faster than an oil tanker 2 years on......

Why is always the home matches that are on the box? I haven't missed a home match for well over twenty years, but always appreciate the chance to see an away one with a beer in my hand. It always seems those that I'm going be at anyway that are on TV.

Shame really as it will defo put some off until the League starts.
I think it will reduce the crowd from about 8000 to 5000. Maybe the club will consider reduced entrance fee's?
At least the TV money will help compensate.

Great for us ex-pats. I expect to be able to see games in both October and November, and I hope later in the season as well, but terrific to be able to see the first serious game while still 6,000 miles away. Now get some players signed. Do hope the Spurs mess doesn't derail the Bostock deal, but I fear it may. That club have screwed with us too many times.

I happy wouldn't be able to see it if not on TV
.
Still not sure about a cup game before the league!
.
If a team gets thumped by a bigger side it might effect their opening league game!

Not sure but I don't think this is a new departure. If memory serves properly, several years ago the first round of the League Cup used to be a few days before the first League game. Anyway, let's hope the fixture isn't an omen. We all know how the season ended the last time we played Brighton at home in the first game!

So Jwray should cut ticket prices to get bums on seats knowing he has the cushion of the tv fee as back up.

The league cup games are nearly always reduced so hopefully the same will be true this time.
