RAFFA De Vita does not mind what position he plays in for Swindon Town this season, and he’ll fight to keep his shirt wherever he ends up.

The former Livingston man has been used as both a winger and a striker by Town boss Paolo Di Canio during his year with the Robins, and he has not as yet been given an indication as to what part his manager sees him playing in 2012/13.

However, De Vita is more than happy to be known as Mr Versatile and, after impressing during his 45-minute appearance in the 9-1 thrashing of a local select XI at Swindon’s Lake Garda training base on Thursday, he is hopeful he will get his chance to prove himself in the first team over the coming months.

“He (Di Canio) has not said anything. Yesterday I didn’t know I was going to play on the right for example,” he told the Advertiser.

“Whatever happens I’ll deal with it. If I get asked to play in a certain position I’ll do my best to keep that position so we’ll see what happens.

“You can see the quality compared to the start of the season last year is a lot better. I think it helps everyone to give more and the competition is always healthy for everyone.”

De Vita was prepared for a Di Canio pre-season this time around, and he believes that has shown in the way he has adapted to the intense physical challenges the players have had to deal with out in Italy.

“I’ve definitely coped better than last year because I knew what to expect this time whereas last year was a bit of a shock,” he said.

“It’s obviously been hard but everyone knew what was coming so I think we came through it this time and I think it’s going well.

“Everyone is satisfied with the level of fitness we’ve shown so everyone’s happy I think.

“Maybe it’s been harder but it’s mostly the same. The type of running we’ve been doing is the same as last year and the tactical work in the afternoon is pretty much the same so I can’t see much difference.”
