Young in title eliminator

SWINDON boxer Kelvin Young will fight in an eliminator for the English middleweight title in September.

The former Penhill amateur takes on Southampton’s Tony Hill in a contest which could catapault his career to a new level.

An English title shot awaits the winner and Young is determined to take the opportunity with both hands.

“This is a massive opportunity for me,” said the current Southern Area super-middleweight champion.

“Tony Hill is a strong opponent but I am confident of taking this chance and earning the right to fight for the English title. This could be start of big things for me.”

Young is on a nine-fight winning streak while Hill has suffered back-to-back defeats. However, the Southampton southpaw has sent Young a warning ahead of the fight.

“I have a point to prove,” said Hill at KM Promotions’ press launch yesterday.

“I have been in with some decent names and I want this so bad. I’m the away boxer but I’m coming here to win. Kelvin is in for a tough night.”
