OLYMPIC ROWING: Reed and men's four earn gold medal shot
EX-CIRENCESTER Deer Park School pupil Pete Reed will once again have a shot at gold after he and the men's four qualified for the Olympic final in impressive style at Eton Dorney this morning.
The Beijing gold medallist and Andy Triggs Hodge, Tom James and Alex Gregory won their semi.
The Australians took the lead at the start and were half a length up at the half way mark.
GB dropped back to three-quarters of a length down at 1500m but then cranked up the pressure in the last 500m, to charge into the final in superb fashion.
Reed & Co clocked 5:58.26 with Australia finishing a nearly a second behind in 5:59.23, while the Netherlands were third and also progressed.
The final will take place on Saturday morning and the United States, Greece and Germany qualified from the second semi.
