SWINDON captain Paul Paginton fears bad weather could wreck his side’s hopes of the survival in the Glos/Wilts Division this weekend.

The Country Ground club go into their final game of the season against Stroud seven points adrift of third bottom Chipping Sodbury, having dropped into the relegation zone three weeks ago.

Swindon managed to keep themselves in with a chance of survival with victory over Winsley last weekend, but Paginton is concerned all their hard work could be undone by the bad weather which has caused havoc throughout the season.

“The forecasts say it is going to be getting better, but it doesn’t really look like it is,” he said.

“We need to get a game on, simple as that, because if we don’t we don’t have a chance of staying up, so making sure we play is the main thing.

“After the summer we have had it would be typical if the weather played a part on the final day, but we are hopeful it won’t come to that.”

Paginton is convinced the pressure of their situation will not get to his side, and believes they will take to the field in a relaxed frame of mind.

“There is a really good feeling around the club to be honest, and I think we are all just looking forward to it and want to get out there and play.

“We have been getting better and better in recent weeks, and if we can carry on doing that I am sure we can win, and see where we go from there.”
