“IT WOULD be a shambles if we didn’t get it.”

Goatacre captain Craig Gibbens knows his side are red hot favourites to secure a remarkable third straight promotion when they take on Keynsham this weekend.

The Goats require just a single point to put themselves out of sight of their guests, who currently occupy third place in the WEPL Premier Two table.

While Gibbens stopped short of suggesting promotion was a foregone conclusion, he admitted only a catastrophe will prevent Goatacre celebrating once again come 8pm tomorrow.

“We’ll play the way we always do and hopefully we can secure the point we need early,” he said.

“If we can’t secure a point then it will be a shambles.

“We’ve played so well all year and we just need to finish it off now and hopefully everyone will be able to celebrate on Saturday night.”

With rain in the air and the cold nights closing in, Gibbens is pretty certain he knows his gameplan before even taking a look at the Goatacre Lane pitch.

Last season he led his side to Swindon needing two points to claim elevation from the Glos/Wilts division on the penultimate day and only just crept over the line after being dismissed for just 139, and he doesn’t fancy seeing that happen again.

“I think bowling first is the right way to do it,” he said.

“We only need that one point and hopefully our bowlers can deliver.

“We don’t want another day like the Swindon game last year, that was not a good day for us.”
