LOUISE Hunt will take on Japanese ace Yui Kamiji in the first round of the Paralympic singles tennis competition.
The draw was made at Eton Manor yesterday, the venue purpose-built to host tennis at the Games.
And world number 11 Kamiji was paired with Wanborough ’s Hunt in the last 32, with just five matches separating both players from the gold medal.
The two players have never met before on the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tour but 18-year-old Kamji has been as high as six in the world, while Hunt is currently ranked 22nd.
The Paralympic tennis begins at Eton Manor tomorrow at 11am, and the order of play will be released this evening.
Meanwhile, Corsham’s Stephanie Millward eased into the final of the 100m butterfly yesterday but could only manage a fifth place finish.
Salisbury-born cyclist Darren Kenny was unable to add to his haul of six Paralympic gold medals at the Veledrome. Kenny, who won four golds in Beijing, came fourth in the men’s individual C1-2-3 1km time trial yesterday.
He had led at one stage but slipped down the leaderboard. T
