- Akpo Sodje, Nicky Wroe and Beavon give PNE three-goal lead at half time
- Di Canio hauls of Wes Foderingham, who reacts by kicking water bottle
6:08pm
Town midfielder Tommy Miller spoke to the Advertiser after the game, and summed up the mood of the Swindon squad.
"We didn't start very well, and from then on it really was a mountain to climb because whenever you get the first goal you are in control.
"We are all very unhappy with the result and the way we played because we have started the season so well, and we know we need to improve quickly now."

4:58pm
Wes Foderingham is still in with the Town fans signing autographs.
4:54pm
The full time whistle goes, with the score Preston 4 Swindon 1.
4:51pm
Nicky Wroe named as man of the match
4:50pm
88 minutes: Flint and McCormack just about work the ball back to Bedwell with a game of head tennis, after David Amoo threatened.
4:46pm
Jeffrey Monkana has been taken off to a standing ovation. He really has played well.
4:44pm
'You're getting subbed in a minute ' sing the Preston fans.
4:41pm
80 minutes: Proctor flies into the box to meet a Wroe cross, but his header is high and wide.
4:38pm
75 minutes: Town win a free kick on the edge of the area, but Miller’s driven effort is deflected over the bar by the Preston wall for a corner.
4:35pm
Jeffrey Monakana has caused Town problems all afternoon. He drifted from side to side, and looks to take the Town full-backs on at every opportunity.
4:31pm
68 minutes GOAL 4-1 (Welsh): Town fail to clear a corner, and are punished as John Welsh fires the ball through a field of bodies and into the bottom corner.
4:27pm
66 minutes: Sodje fires a header over as he gets away from McCormack, and Di Canio makes his final change as Ferry replaces Navarro.
4:27pm
65 minutes: Bedwell does superbly to claw a Monakana cross away from Beavon, and Town clear.
4:21pm
57 minutes GOAL FOR TOWN 3-1 (De Vita): The Italian picks the ball up down the left and moves into the area, and guides the ball into the bottom corner with ease.
4:18pm
55 minutes: Flint gets on the end of a Bostock cross, and his effort is turned over for an ultimately fruitless corner.
4:17pm
Wes Foderingham and Luke Rooney have gone to sit with the Town fans, with the goalkeeper sitting alone to the right, while the winger is right in with the main body of the fans.
4:14pm
Town are starting to get hold of the ball a lot more since half time, with Bostock playing wide on the right looking to cut inside, rather than behind the strikers as he did during his loan last season.
Preston aren't in any hurry to fly forwards, and are happy to keep the ball.
4:13pm
50 minutes: John Bostock brings the ball down and cuts inside, and his shot takes a deflection and loops onto the top of the bar and out for a corner. Which is cleared.
4:10pm
Wes Foderingham is watching the game from the tunnel. Which is behind the goal Town are defending in this second half.
4:08pm
46 minutes: De Vita breaks into the box as Town attack at the start of the second period, but Stuckmann makes a good save to tip behind for a corner.
4:05pm
It is Rooney who is replaced by Bostock
4:05pm
Here come Preston who are unchanged.
4:03pm
Four Town subs are out warming up for the start of the second half, and it looks as though John Bostock is coming on. The rest of the Town team emerge without Luke Rooney and go straight into a huddle.
4:02pm
ADVER SPORTS WRITER ANDY WARREN: The Town players and fans seem to be stunned be what has gone on in a dramatic first half. They found it hard to settle after conceding so early in the game, and never really good a foot hold in the match after. Needless to say it is a long way back now from 3-0 down.
The decision to replace Foderingham is a very strange one indeed following the keepers superb displays since joining the club, and he was understandably frustrated by the decision. We will have to wait and see the outcome of this one.

Let's hope that Foderingham's reaction to being subbed was more due to his frustration about his own performance (which doesn't appear to be of the usual high standard) rather than the manager's decision to take him off.....
3:51pm
HALF TIME: Preston North End 3 Swindon Town 0
3:48pm
45 minutes: Devera is caught out just inside his own half as he is robbed by Wroe, but the midfielder's through-ball can't find Sodje.
3:47pm
43 minutes GOAL 3-0 PRESTON (Beavon): Scott Laird sends in a corner which is headed down by Bailey Wright as Bedwell is exposed, and new signing Beavon is there to finish.
3:44pm
40 minutes: Town survive two home penalty shouts as first Sodje goes down under pressure from Flint, and then Monakana hits the desk after a challenge from McEveley.
3:42pm
39 minutes: Wroe drives after a good run from Monakana, but his effort is harmlessly wide.
3:39pm
36 minutes: Bedwell does well to punch a corner away, although a foul is given for a push on Alan McCormack.
3:36pm
32 minutes: McEveley swings in a corner which is eventually cleared. There is a strange atmosphere around the ground now. The travelling Town fans seem in a state of shock.
3:33pm
30 minutes: Beavon holds the ball up and lays it back for Monakana, who drives wide.
3:30pm
27 minutes: Alan McCormack gives away a free kick on the edge of the area, but Town do well to block the driven set pieces before clearing the resulting corner.
3:25pm
22 minutes: Di Canio replaces Foderingham with Leigh Bedwell. The Town keeper is not injured, and storms off down the tunnel after kicking a water bottle. Paul Benson and John Bostock try to calm the keeper down. Very very strange.
3:22pm
20 minutes: Jeffrey Monakana cuts inside McEveley but fires his cross straight into the arms of Foderingham.
3:20pm
18 minutes: James Collins has Town’s first chance but heads over the bar. Good chance wasted for Town.
3:18pm
16 minutes: Stuart Beavon fires wide after Joe Devera nods the ball backwards.
3:15pm
PRESTON NORTH END 2 SWINDON TOWN 0
Town get off to the worst possible start as Joe Devera passes back to Wes Foderingham, and the keeper’s kick is charged down and bounces kindly for Akp Sodje who pounces to slot home.
It got worse just five minutes later as captain Nicky Wroe arrived late in the box to slot past Foderingham.

2:49pm
Just over 10 minutes until kick-off here at Deepdale. A decent little away support is gathering behind the goal where the Town players are warming up.
Swindon fans were in terrific voice at Stoke in midweek, no doubt it will be the same again today!
2:46pm
Preston's injured captain, John Mousinho , did not mention Town once in his programme notes.
But here is a nugget of what he had to say...
"Every home game we have had good support and we are trying to recruit more and more every week and this is a chance for a lot of people to come and see what the new side are all about.
"So far we have had three home games and won two and drawn one, so they have seen some good form and some goals.
"We need to attract more fans as well as keep those who have been coming for a while and been paying good money. They want to see good football and we want to give them that."

Former Town midfielder Jonathan Smith is a boyhood Town fan, and is in the crowd for this afternoon's game. But admits he will be supporting the home side despite picking up a League Two winners medal with Swindon.
"I will be supporting Preston," he said.
"If I was playing it would have obviously been different, but now I am not at Swindon any more I will be supporting PNE.
"I always look out for Preston, and it is the first score I look for when I finish playing.
"It will be a good game I am sure, and I have seen Preston a couple of times this season against Huddersfield and once in pre-season. They have good energy and drive in the team and it will be a good game."

2:21pm
Swindon skipper Alan McCormack will be leading Town out against his first professional club this afternoon, and the Irishman has had his say in this afternoon's matchday programme.
"When the fixtures came out this afternoon was one of the games I looked for.
"I have always had great memories of Deepdale and Preston as a club and a place. I have a lot of great memories from there and I still speak to a lot of people from there so it will be great to be back.
"Hopefully the result will be the same as my last visit here (3-2 win for Southend) and if I can pop up with another goal I would be a very pleased man."

TEAM NEWS
Let's just have a quick gander as the Town substitutes' bench today. It makes for impressive reading.
Today, Paolo Di Canio can use Simon Ferry, John Bostock, Adam Rooney, Paul Benson, Darren Ward and Federico Bessone as game-changers. That's a nice little fallback now, isn't it?
2:00pm
TEAM NEWS
Looks like there will be just the once change for Swindon Town at Preston North End, with Luke Rooney coming into the team to replace the injured Matt Ritchie.
No word on who's making up the substitutes' bench just yet.
SWINDON TOWN v Preston North End: Foderingham; Devera, Flint, McCormack, McEveley; Rooney, Miller, Navarro, De Vita; Collins, Williams
1:58pm
Graham Westley doesn't even give lip service to the arrival of Swindon Town at Deepdale in today's matchday programme.
His programme notes mainly focus on what his team have achieved so far this season.
"We have patiently worked at all aspects of our game and we will simply keep working ferociously at all aspects of our game.
"Our season will evolve, one game at a time, one week at a time, one month at a time.
"I am sure that Crystal Palace will verify that our team is tough to play against and that Deepdale is a tough place to visit.
"It is up to us to keep building on that reputation by the performances that we put in, as a club."
1:52pm
TEAM NEWS
Reports are coming in claiming Matt Ritchie will miss today's game with a hamstring injury.
Ritchie will undoubtedly be a big miss for Town, he's been having a brilliant season.
But it will give a chance for others to impress - could Luke Rooney get his chance today?
1:46pm
The last time the Robins made the trip to Preston was 1986, so for many travelling fans today will be the first opportunity they have had in their lifetimes to visit the famous stadium.
And it certainly is impressive, both modern and historic. We're set for a cracking Sunday afternoon of League One football.
1:43pm
Three Town players make returns to their former club today.
The most notable is Alan McCormack , the Swindon skipper, who started his career at Deepdale.
Jay McEveley and Tommy Miller have also had spells with the Lancashire outfit.

But it won't be easy.
Under Graham Westley, Preston are threatening to be a force to be reckoned with in the third tier - and their 4-1 win over Crystal Palace in midweek shows what they are capable of.

I don't care if there is history with instructions, there have been too many fall outs for it all to be the players fault.
Started with Timlin, then Clarke and has just carried on unabated.
Caddis was a real loss to the club and if Wes is now in the freezer something must be said.
Mr Wray, it is up to you. Yes I like the success. I think we have a fab team. I like the managers antics and committment. I do not like players being browbeaten and bullied which it is feeling like from here.

I beliwve that With dicanio You take the rough with the smooth. His attitude and decisions have brought us a great deal of success. Today it looks like he made mistakes. But it is his arrogance and passion that drives the team to deliver those high moments. As it is the same temprement that has led to today's implosion.
The measure will be the response from the man himself, perhaps the acceptance that he made poor decisions today and the ability to retain the confidence of his players will be seen over the next few days...

Bad day and just hope Wes doesn't do anything rash to aggravate the situation although it was a ridiculous decision by Paolo. No thought at all just a red mist reaction. The fall out could be catastrophic. Wes gives his all every match, to lose him or demotivate him is senseless. Much as I think Paolo can be amazing as a manager he is also deeply flawed. Emotional intelligence? I think not.
This is clear by now as he's alienated too many good players - including Caddis, and we needed Caddis today.

Oldtownred, using the word bullying is a very strong and in my opinion stupid and easily thrown around insult. Yes it was any over reaction taking off wes, but paolo is the manager and results reflect on him. Wednesday he was the messiah today a bully! Wes will come back stronger and better.
I have seen bullying at work. It usually follows a pattern. Football is a man's game. The changing room is, I am sure, no place for the sensitive.
Yet I am not the first or last to notice there is undoubtedly a pattern emerging and it needs to be aired. I may well be wrong but ask Caddis or Clarke or Timlin how they feel they have been treated. Now ask Wes?
If it is stupid to say what I feel and what seems to be a consistent thread, then guilty as charged.

To be fair to PDC, very few teams recover from two goals down after nine minutes and Town were no exception today.
The situation with Wes needs sorting and smoothing out VERY quickly and that needs the intervention of Mr Wray.
We have the stongest and most talented squad in very many years and it is clearly a time for very cool heads.

Town started dreadful the distribution from the back four was appalling, especially Wes who is usually very good. McCormack had strong words with him about it and Wes just struggled his shoulders.
Wes was at fault for the first goal and he then tried to hurry things along with quick throws out which werent working. I think he was rushing rightly so to try and make up for his mistake. However this was putting us under alot of pressure.
He threw the ball out at someone who wasnt even looking at this point PDC lept up and screamed to Bedwell who was warming up to get ready to come on. Bedwell didnt even have his jersey on at this stage.
Fods kicked a water bottle onto the pitch in temper as he walked straight down the touchline to the changing rooms.
PDC made an emotional and irrational decision at this stage, which Im sure he regretted as Bedwell should have done better for the 3rd goal.
Generally Town were all at sea no talking between the back simple passes that were constantly underhit.
Jay Mceverley was awful, Its been a long time since Ive seen a poor performance from anyone in a town shirt.
After half time Fods and Rooney came into the stands Fods was in the stand the other side of the netting which was next to the town fans however Rooney came and sat right amongst the fans and in fact was sat on the steps at one point.
A poor performance from Town probably an aftermath of Stoke which begs the question why not rotate the team a bit more ?
PDC came over to the town fans at the end and said Sorry blame me not the players it was his fault.
I found this very humble of the man, and It actually sent a shiver down my spine.
After the game Fods was signing shirts for the fans in the away end which was a nice touch just hope this isnt the end.

We all know that Wray took a huge gamble in appointing him and this and recent affrays with players won't do his cv or the club any good. I backed him 100% re Caddis but I fear he's lost the plot here with Wes. If he was hacked off with the lad's performance wait till half time have a word pull him off and tell him why. JW really needs as others have said to sit down and tell Paolo that these bust ups can't go on. Wes was the primary reason IMO why we won promotion and by miles the best Town keeper I've seen and that includes the two D's. JW must realise Wes is vital to the cause. Given there are no other underlying factors that pre-empted Pdc's rant then I wouldn't blame Wes if he said stuff it and walked away.

I posted above that as a positive it has given Leigh some very valuable experience. Both are young and will make mistakes, I put Stoke's first goal on Tuesday down to a mistake from Wes. He has to learn from this and I wonder if the bottle kick was annoyance at himself (I hope so).

Wes hasn't been great for the last few games and not taking responsibility for your mistakes and then shouting at others isn't on. Mceverley hasnt looked good for a while either really, but sort of gone unnoticed by many. Looks like bessone will get his chance now. Also i expect wardy to come in for flint and keep his place as well. Some of these players better watch out. Get your heads down lads and start working hard again, you lknow who you are
Having said that it's no surprise that Paolo is a bit volatile & outspoken, and you wouldn't swap him. It's not often you're club gets stuffed 4-1 & you're still waiting excitedly for the post match comments, plus (from the radio only) I think we were losing today with or without Foderingham in goal.

It's only one defeat - but for PDC it needs explaining. The same team as Tuesday (almost), the same talent, the same fitness, a weaker opponent, so there's only one thing that can be different: the players' determination and attitude. According to PDC in his interview it's happened twice now. At Hartlepool (after Brighton) and today (after Stoke) - and according to him he knows the reason and he's working on it to make sure it doesn't happen again. Let's give him chance to show that he knows how to do it. Patience people. It's a long season.

I have commented before that this season could all end in tears! di canio is a unstable personality in my opinion, all the good which has happened is fantastic but things are now happening that could actually destroy di canios job as a manager! this is definately a case of di canio thinking he is bigger than the club! i see trouble ahead while he is in charge and only jeremy wray has the power to sort this out,to take the goalie off is not right, unless things have been happening behind closed doors? i am baffled and listening to the managers rant on the radio fills me with worry for the club.dissapointed to say the least but the manager needs to have a look at himself because these players will not want to perform and ultimately he will lose the dressing room!!!

I have been to all 3 away games this season and it feels to me as though I have watched 3 completely different teams.
Against Hartlepool I felt there was a little apprehension but ultimately the team managed to pull together and a draw was certainly a fair result.
Against Stoke the occasion had a positive effect on the whole team, the work rate was amazing and although there were mistakes in front of goal the overall performance was excellent.
Today I am afraid there seemed to be a distinct lack of confidence all over the park. Even the most simple of pass seemed to be short, distribution from Wes was nowhere near his usual standard (But let's be fair...we are all entitled to an "Off Day"), and we seemed to be half a yard short on many areas of the pitch. The all round performance in the first half was as bad as I ever hope I see from a STFC team. That said, IMO the second half did show signs of improvement and had we not been in a position where we had to chase the game, we may not have left ourselves so wanting at the back.
I am absolutely certain that on this occasion there will be no negative repercussions as both Wes and Paolo know there was short comings from both parties.(Wes's poor performance and questionable attitude when berated by his colleagues, and Paolo's rash decision in withdrawing him which he should know would hurt a keeper more than any outfield player).
As I'm up in Manchester I don't get to hear local radio so am not privvy to after match interviews etc but would hope that this can be sorted "In House" and put down to a bad day at th office.
Finally on a positive note, I thought Bostock looked sharp and had he started things may have been oh so different.
Still an extremely positive feeling for this season for me.

There are players practically forming an orderly queue to sign for us!
Make no mistake about it, mature, professional players can clearly see that swindon are going in the right direction under Paolo and would love to learn from him.
Any problems we have will be primarily with players who are kids barely out of their teens, or those who don't really want to put the work in and would be more than happy to just coast through their careers.
They will either see the light or lose the chance to prosper at Swindon Town.

He launched a long diatribe against Wes, stating that he was nothing before he came here, that he was effectively too short to be a goal keeper and that he has made him what he is and he should remember that. Now whilst some of that is true, you couch that information in more positive terms and do it behind closed doors, not on the radio.
Whilst Wes sounded at fault for the first goal, he is entitled to a mistake once in a while, not to be publicly berated for it - particularly when he has been brilliant for us since he came here.
Jay also felt the wrath of PDC and he is not going to play on Wednesday for a starter either.
For all of Paolo's passion and commitment, he risks spoiling it all by these outbursts and if he's not careful there will be nobody left to fall out with. He has a lot to learn in terms of man management and the Chairman needs to pick him up on this sharpish.
All very well criticising players for their state of mind before a game, but who's job is it to ensure that they enter the field of play with the right state of mind and motivation Paolo?
I love him and his passion to death, but it needs to be tempered by the right type of man management in the right situation - not in public.

i feel i need to today was awful not at the races in 1st half better when bostock came on but all to late. Wes has not been great this season. If a outfield player is having a bad game or games we all shout get him off!!!
so whats the difference when a goalie is having a bad game or games the difference is Paulo is brave enough to hall them off. Wes deserved to be subbed and before it starts i am a huge Wes fan (who isn't) but he has no right to stay on the pitch anymore than the outfield players. De Vita gets subbed nearly every game but does he storm off like a spoilt brat?
This was a wake up call and show the players they do not just have to turn up maybe the win at stoke made them think they are better than they are Preston taught them a lesson lets hope they learn from it.
Di Canio saw this and was angry at their attitude and lack luster performance and i am behind his decisions all the way yes he is hot headed and his passion is amazing

Not sure how many of you heard PDC's interview after the game, but heThis is his way Castle, it's done pretty well so far hasn't it?
I think with Wes, Paolo's main issue is the players attitude and it's recent slide.
I know he's only 20 which is literally a kid, but not being able to hold your hand up to recent mistakes and trying to blame others and arguing with experienced teams mates, all smacks of an over inflated sense of self importance.. an unhealthy, youthful arrogance.
This is understandable in someone achieving what Wes has over the last or so at his tender age. But needs to stop.
It wasn't just because he made a mistake today, it is the players attitude for the last couple of weeks it seems and his performances have also dipped over this period.

Preston fan here. You guys don't need to worry you will win far more than you'll lose this season. Great support passionate manager good footballing side. We've been waiting to do that to somebody in the league this season it just happened to be you. PDC was hilarious today arguing with everybody even our supporters. but he really is very passionate about Swindon so don't knock him to much. My prediction is that we wilboth be in the top six come the end of the season. I just hope that we are automatics because we don't do playoffs very well. Good luck for the rest of the season guys. See you at your place in Feb.
A very bad day at the office 2day but thats life and we will be back BIGGER AND BETTER...

Firstly i have chose not to comment on here for a while as a lot of the posts on here are just to predictable. But having been to every game so far this season and reading some of the predictable drivel as expected on here after a defeat. i feel i need to today was awful not at the races in 1st half better when bostock came on but all to late. Di Canio saw this and was angry at their attitude and lack luster performance and i am behind his decisions all the way yes he is hot headed and his passion is amazing For us fans who went to Stoke his passion at the end was truely something i will never forget. I wonder to all of you slagging him off on here actually went to Stoke or today? I am sure i will get a lot of flack but i do not care We are Paulo's Red and white Army!!!!!

We have had three reports from fans that went today and all three are singing basically from the same hymn sheet.
Wes is a good goalkeeper, no doubting that, but he has to work to become great as he, at his own admission, has had a very good defence in front of him since joining.
I have used Rooney as an example because I was at Morecambe and he was awful. He was taken off early and has since worked hard to try to earn his place in the team. Wes is no different.

You wait to HT, give a bollocking, and see if the player will make amends. If stuff is getting kicked around you sub him on the restart. After the game, you say it was obvious to the fans in the ground why he was subbed and leave it at that. If there is an attitude change, you don't sub your goalie, you make two subs on the restart, Bostock and Ferry. You save Rooney (A) for the last ten minutes.
You do not sub a keeper for having a bad game after twenty minutes.

Di Canio said it wasn't just today "Wes was crap against Stoke" . Listening to the radio it really sounded like Fodders was having a mare and the commontaters were critical too.
Di Canio said that it's the players place to come to him and appologise to him, the club and the fans. If he doesn't do this then he is out and he will ask the chairman for an emergency loan..
Once again our manager called the players arrogant and I can see where he's coming from. Only three are garaunteed to start on Wednesday , Ferry , Miller and Raffa, obviously 5 / 6 of todays team will start because of that rule. Di Canio says he would like to change 11 which is a contradiction to the previous statement, however I think that all 5 of the new boys will start.
It's my belief that a lot of these players and even the manager are caught up in their own hype and think too much of themselves.
I'm not suggesting that Di canio has lost the dressing room, far from it. However I do believe that the situation is very delicate .
I said over the Caddis affair that the manager should apply a little flexibility and humility. The iron fist doesn't always work, even Cloughie had a softer side.
These new lads must be wondering what they've let themselves in for . I just hope that the whole thing doesn't implode.
Maybe Paolo should take a walk down Manchester Road and get his pent up frustration relieved :-)

Paolo is not the norm, maybe he should as many have said bought another keeper to put pressure on Sir Wes. But may be he believed in him and today is a bad day. By subbing him he's putting the marker in for the rest of the season that he's not indispensable.
Of course it looks bad but despite his often apparent madness he usually gets it right. As I posted the other day I'm proud we have a manager that sets standards on and off the pitch.
Out of interest anyone there give me a report on Bedwell? How was he?
By all accounts we were amazing at Stoke, rubbish today. It's one day and finding consistency and clean sheets (obviously) win the league!
I'll be into the bookies tomorrow to take whatever increased odds they offer. We will still win the league.
Back to back to back promotions coming. Watching the birth of a managerial legend. Isn't he already?! Build a statue of him when he takes us to the Premiership.

I only heard snippets of the game today and PDC is still the same manager who brought us up, who has assembled a squad to take us up again and who if he fails will die by the sword.
..
Since day one it is do it his way or not at all...would I have done as he did today...probably not...would I have got our team to beat Stoke NOPE!! not a chance!
..
Too many armchair fans who only come on here when we lose...too many who seem to live by the British way of knock 'em down when they're up...he is our manager and he'll be accountable if we fail.
..
Today!?...Really disappointing and hoping that they would have avoided the after the Lord Mayors Show state.
..
Win 5 of the next 6 league games and beat Poxford plus Burnley and we'll all be smiling from ear to ear again.
..
Who would I swap PDC for!?..No-one - 100% support as ever....for any manager, player or team.

Wes did make a bad mistake for the first goal, with the Preston player charging towards him he took a touch before trying to punt the ball upfield, amazing and very silly thing to do! Having said that I think he is a brilliant keeper but I don't think it is right to slag of Paolo on here, he is the manager and we should all back him 100%, as another poster said he came over to us at end of game and asked us to stop clapping him because today was his fault.
I think Rooney is now finished with us, he was very very poor in the 1st half and apart from 1 decent cross he did nothing! Jay at left back was awful too, he was run ragged and looked very tired and dispirited, but up to now has been very good for us! Bostock improved the team when he came on and caused them big problems. The whole back 4 struggled today with little help from our midfield, who also provided few opportunities for our front 2.
I'm not too down as I know we will do a lot better and the season has a very very long way to go. I am disappointed so many Town fans are criticising our manager after what he has done for this club! At least Paulo has the courage to make difficult decisions, mostly they work. And finally as I was there I can tell all you guys who didn't go that we were beaten by a very good Preston team who will definitely be up there challenging this season!

I dont normally comment on here as Im a Swindon fan who lives in Blackpool and dont get to see Town enough to feel I can comment however went to the game today and Im back home now and here is my thoughts.
Only bright spark for me was the introduction of Bostock who did a great job when he came on.
A few further points to add...
The biggest factor today was a chap called Jeffrey Monakana. What a player. He ripped Town apart and the defence were not up to it. That's why McEverley, McCormack, Fods etc struggled. A good manager would have sorted that problem out as a priority.
If Fods has been showing poor form and bad attitude for a while why has no new keeper been bought? Why did he start today. I've no seen this bad form. he is the best keeper we've had for years. He made one mistake today and credit to the Town fans who got behind him by chanting his name. Shame on an immature, arrogant manager who made a disgraceful decision by bringing him off.
This club is to big for DiCanio. I think it's time he went to one of these Premiership clubs who are desperate for his talents. That would be fine by me.

might as well have my quids worth, fair point PDC makes why not sub a keeper if he is having a bad game. I don't like the humiliation aspect of this "say sorry to the fans" - no need for this at all. We've all seen Wes and the rest play and I think everyone would agreed they want to win and are happy to play for the shirt much more so than in recent years. Hopefully this will all be done and dusted tomorrow in training and lessons learned from it PDC should have rotated the squad a little more, and should have bought a keeper to give Wes a rest as well
I don't see much immediate future for Luke Rooney. Both RdV and Ritchie put in exceptional defensive effort and that is missing from Rooney. To compensate, he has to be cleverer and more effective.
Up front it is interesting, Bostock, Collins and Williams deserve their places and Adam Rooney deserves a chance. Possibly, Williams will get a crack on the flank to make room up top. Ritchie's hamstring may take several weeks. The new left back from Swansea, along with Ferry, must be a starter in the JPT. Nate Thompson would probably have played as it is the JPT but I am not so sure what else is going on. With no Ritche and the personnel we have, 4:3:3 might be an option.

Both are very early into their prospective careers and both have a lot to learn. Do we really want to turn into a set of fans that wants rid of people as soon as they make a mistake.
Probably not a good way of putting things but both have to learn from today and I am happy to give PDC the benefit of the doubt mainly because of the football and success I have witnessed since his arrival.
I am also a bit dubious of the title that has been bestowed on Wes. In some people's eyes there is only one that has that honour at the CG and he has had a stand named after him and played for more than a season to earn it.
I may upset a few with that statement but it is my view and I don't want to see us turn to into Liverpool as we will never make progress by constantly changing our manager.

Lots of people saying "Wes as not been good this season" nobody said that before today's game,i admit i was not there today i was at Stoke and i have kept up on here,i repeat today is the first time anyone has said Wes has been off form,i also think if this has been the case WHY have we not signed another keeper before today?
I love what our manager has done,i love his passion determination and his no no nonsense style of management however no-one is always right.
I hope ( like most i expect) this shat blows over and togetherness and unity returns to the ranks and we march on and complete the job in hand.

You do not sub a keeper for having a bad game after twenty minutes.
How many times has fodders kept us in games since he has been here !!
I think there has been something brewing between paolo and fodders as he was going mental at him against mk dons and Stoke about his distribution.
Just hope we don't have another caddis issue as Wes is a great player who we need !!
But sitting in the stands with Rooney won't help the matter
We won the league with this man last season, we beat stoke and we are in the top ten after 4 games. We have a manager who demands and gives 100%.
If wes does go so be it, we will march on with paolo who is a winner.

I agree entirely with your comments here, but I do remain concerned that PDC is a firework with its blue touchpaper permanently lit. He has us (well, me, at least) constantly on edge, wondering what and when the next explosion will be. I think he just has to rein it in a bit, otherwise we are going to have an endless succession of these fall-outs - and we haven't even reached the first altercation of the season with the FA yet!
.
You are right of course that Foderingham has a very long way to go before he gets anywhere the legendary status of the great man. However, I also continue to believe that he's the best keeper we've had in the 50 years since I saw my first Town game. Perhaps he was poor today; so was Peter Downsborough occasionally and so was Fraser Digby. I think we would be hard pressed to find a single incident in the history of substitutions anywhere in football where a goalkeeper has been replaced because of poor form when there was just over 20 minutes on the clock.
.
I very much hope I'm wrong about this but I get the impression that there will be no meeting of minds between Foderingham and Di Canio.

I dont normally comment on here as Im a Swindon fan who lives in Blackpool and dont get to see Town enough to feel I can comment however went to the game today and Im back home now and here is my thoughts.

For us fans who went to Stoke his passion at the end was truely something i will never forget.
I wonder to all of you slagging him off on here actually went to Stoke or today?
I am sure i will get a lot of flack but i do not care
We are Paulo's Red and white Army!!!!!

Thanks for the reply and no need to apologise.
I feel the same about PDC but I think that, to a certain extent, is what makes him popular with most of the fans.
We have had a succession of managers over the years with the occassional good season. All part of being a lower league supporter I suppose.
We now have a fanatical manager that wants the best for the club and his players. And, he has also given us one of the best season in a long while.
He may go overboard sometimes, which in time may change, but FAN comes from the word fanatical.
I hope he and Wes sort it, time will tell.

Paolo said way too much imo after the game. The failure to sign a decent back up to push Wes has also contributed, and made the substitution decision today a daft one.
I expect this to be resolved by
1. A Wes apology
2. Some sort of Paolo apology
3. The signing of a loan keeper
4. Wes to start against Pox, cannot throw Bedders into that one imo.
I also expect Jay Wray to have quiet words in Paolo's shell, like...
