FEDERICO Bessone has called for unity as Swindon Town look to quickly forget their week from hell and get back to winning ways at Carlisle on Saturday.

Bessone, a deadline day capture from Swansea, has only been with the Robins for 10 days but has already had to experience defeat on three separate occasions.

And following the losses to Preston, Oxford and Leyton Orient the Argentinian has said now is the time for everyone at the club - players, staff and fans - to back each other to emerge from their moment of flux intact.

“We need to improve a lot of things, just keep working and that’s the secret,” he told the Advertiser.

“Now we’ve lost three games in a row and we need to be together, I think that is the key.

“It’s not easy when you come in a new place but I’m not upset, I’m not negative. We’ve got a big side and the result will come.

“In this situation after three defeats the lads are magnificent. They’re a good group and this week I’m sure we’re going to speak, we’re going to sort our problems out and go and get a result on Saturday.

“We are very disappointed. On Wednesday (at Oxford) we played much better, even though it was against a League Two team. We had chances to score and we lost the game.

“(On Saturday) we didn’t start that good, we were a bit sloppy with the ball in the first half, they had two chances to score and we kept alive. In the second half I think we were a little bit better than them but another mistake and they scored a goal.

“We had another chance one v one and we should have scored.

“Personally I’m disappointed because at home, with our fans, we should win the game.”

The past week-and-a-half has hardly been the initiation Bessone would have hoped for when he agreed to join Town on a six-month contract, but the defender is experienced enough to know every side goes through peaks and troughs of form over the course of any given campaign.

And Bessone is not looking back on the recent past, instead stressing he is keen to settle down and succeed with Swindon.

“I came here before I signed, I spoke with Paolo and if I came here it’s because I like his logic, his ideas and I lam with him until the end,” he said. “I’m happy. I’m in the hotel and I’ve got a baby and my missus. It’s not easy but we’re trying to find something as soon as possible.”
