SWINDON TOWN: Town still waiting on Collins tribunal decision
11:55am Thursday 20th September 2012 in Sport
James Collins
SWINDON Town are still waiting to discover how much they will have to pay Shrewsbury for the services of James Collins.
The Professional Football Compensation Committee met in London yesterday to determine the amount of compensation the Robins owe the Shrews following the striker’s switch to Wiltshire over the summer.
However, Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner revealed this morning that both clubs remain in the dark with regards to the tribunal panel’s decision.
"We're all now awaiting the outcome of the tribunal. Both sides give their evidence and they interviewed the player. We were informed that they will inform us in due course," he said.
"I would expect over the next 12, 24 hours to know the outcome of it.
"The tribunals have changed considerably since I last sat on one or went to one.
"Both sides had legal people there and it was a bit long winded. I think we were in there for about two and three quarter hours.
"It was a lot of legalese and there wasn't too many football things discussed.
"In the past both sides would go out and the committee would decide on a price. For whatever reason, clubs are now informed at a later date.
"When and why it changed, I've no idea.
"James is a good player, we know what. Swindon know he's a good player so we hope for a fair outcome."
Shrewsbury have said that it could take up to 48 hours from the conclusion of the hearing before the two clubs are informed how much money will be changing hands.
