SWINDON TOWN: Di Canio wants to rebuild fortress County Ground
6:00am Saturday 22nd September 2012 in Sport By Andy Warren
Paolo Di Canio
SWINDON boss Paolo Di Canio wants his side to start rebuilding their County Ground fortress this afternoon after their year-long unbeaten record came to an end in their last home game.
Leyton Orient lowered Town’s colours two weeks ago as a Lee Cook goal snatched a 1-0 victory, the first time Town had been beaten at home since Southampton left Wiltshire victorious on August 30 last year.
The Robins host Bournemouth today after halting a run of four games without a win with a 2-1 victory at Portsmouth on Tuesday night, and Di Canio is convinced his side will win if they produce a performance similar to the opening 80 minutes at Fratton Park.
“It’s obvious that not every time it will be possible to play as we did for 80 minutes against Portsmouth because we did very well but we must try, especially at home,” he said.
“Bournemouth are another team who try to play good football, a good system, they’ve got quality up front - it’s obvious they are going to try to close all the space for us and then try to counter once they regain the ball.
“It will be tough but in this game we will see if we are capable of playing in a different manner with our system and our principle.
“One day it would happen, it happened unfortunately two weeks ago and we lost a game and now we have to start again and make the County Ground a fortress.
“If we play like we did at Portsmouth, even if we put in trouble the result in the last 10 minutes, at home if we go 2-0 up then it will be easy to handle the situation until the end.
“We have to start again well at home and forget the defeat and let this ground become a fortress again for us because that will be crucial during the season.”
Di Canio knows his side will be in for a tough afternoon today.
“They are a work in progress in some ways. Some players joined just at the beginning of the season - O’Kane, Grabban - they already know how to play but it takes time to understand everything.,” he said.
“They have some individuals who can cause problems.
“It’s true that they have drawn five games but they are a good side and if we don’t take this seriously we could fall in a trap.
“If we do our jobs I know that we are better than them, this is my opinion.
“But they can have their chance if we don’t play at 100 per cent.”

Having said all that I'm sure 'the gaffer' has a game plan for today and know's who the best options are to implement that plan and I still have complete faith in Paolo as our manager to guide this team to promotion again this season.

Well i hope we have a good game today.
I would also like to see Troy and Ward together. Also like to see Ferry and Bostock, i know they are/seem to be attacking Midfielders but; if you gave Ferry a little holding role; keep his energy levels and Bostock as a play maker; i think we would terrorise defences with Ritchie and Roberts cutting in, with Williams cutting around the box, jesus teams wouldnt know where to look first....lol

With Tubbs and Grabben up front they have strikers who can hurt us if our crntre back pairing are not on their game.
