WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: Luckless Wroughton beaten again

WROUGHTON  remain bottom of the Wiltshire Premier after surrendering a 1-0 half-time lead at Shrewton.

The hosts hit back in the second half and at one stage led 4-1, before the Weir Field outfit bagged with a couple of goals late on to make it 4-3.

Alan Palmer (2) and Danny Cosby were on the scoresheet but it was a result that left Wroughton still searching for their second win of the season.

Joint boss Stef Kuczynski was bemused at what had happened, saying: “There was plenty of goals, but then that’s the case in most of the games we play.

“We were 1-0 up at half time and we just about deserved it, and came out in the second half thinking we should have been adding to it.

“But they had a 15-minute spell and suddenly we were 3-1 down. Their fourth goal was an absolute cracker, he must have hit it from 25 yards.

“We were a bit puzzled by it all. Every time we have a bit of a blip we get punished for it.

“I think we deserved a point and they would probably agree with that.

“The people watching certainly got a lot of entertainment, but we couldn’t get three points and Shrewton is a long way to go.”

Elsewhere in the division, Chippenham Park are top of the league after their 4-1 thrashing of former Hellenic side Trowbridge.
