Brothers to fight at MECA
6:00am Wednesday 26th September 2012 in Sport
NEILSON Promotions’ latest show at MECA will see two sets of brothers step in the ring.
At Fight Night IX on Saturday, October 13, Gavin Towler-Wilson and his younger brother Ryan are due to contest bouts as will Darren and Chris Jones.
Soldier Gavin started boxing training in 2006 and in 2008 he boxed in his first Army tournament as an amateur A-class, before turning his attention to tours of duty for Queen and country in 2009.
Gavin returned to the ring in the white collar arena when he lost to Paul Payne in December 2011, before being defeated in an Army-organised bout.
This time he is up against Darren Jones, who is embarking on his fourth white collar fight. Darren has previously fought previously on a Neilson Promotions bill when he lost on points to Daniel Hart, and is yet to score a victory in the White Collar arena having lost his last fight to Keith Wesley. Ryan Towler-Wilson first experienced boxing when he was in his brother’s corner for the fight against Payne.
Having trained alongside his older brother in preparation for that fight, Ryan was inspired.
He ventured into the ring for the first time on the last Neilson Promotions outing at MECA, where he lost. This time he takes on novice Rikki Pearce.
The fourth and final brother of the quartet is Chris Jones, who has two white collar bouts to his name, having lost both fights so far. Chris will face Tom Hardy from the Ringside gym, another fellow novice who is yet to experience the theatre of battle.
Tickets are on sale now via www.neilsonpromotions.co.uk/tickets, Aligra Personnel on Commercial Road or through any of the fighters on the bill.
Other bouts include a heavyweight contest between Dave ‘Bam Bam’ Gregory and Rich ‘The Tank’ Loveday for the Neilson Promotions heavyweight title.
