Beal try secures cup progress for Bassett

WOOTTON Bassett Under 14s started their county cup campaign with a thrilling 20-19 win at Bradford on Avon.
Bassett scored first through Sean Norris, following great work from flanker Tom Buckingham and wing Keiran Harper.
This was followed immediately by another try from the kick off by Will Fieldsend, before Bradford hit back with three tries.
Norris scored from deep in his own 22 and with seven minutes remaining, Laurence Beal outpaced the defence to secure victory Elsewhere, Bassett under 15s trounced Fairford 79-7, scoring 13 tries through 11 different players.
Sam Haskell, Elye Darragh, Josh McCafferty, Dan Sweeney, Toby Magnall, Dan Bacon (2), Matt Roberts (2), Charlie Endicott, Dan Graham, Scott Douglas and Josh Cann touched down.
Dan Sweeney was successful with the boot on six occasions and Scott Douglas once. Nabin Thapia got a consolation try for Fairford.
Bassett under 13s lost 19-14 to Bradford on Avon with Ben Humphries collecting two tries and Rhys Higginson kicking two conversions.
Players from Bassett’s under 12s side were ballboys in the recent Aviva Premiership fixture between London Welsh and Gloucester.
