SWINDON TOWN: McCormack fit for selection
ALAN McCormack is fit and available for selection this weekend after shrugging off the effects of a hamstring injury.
The Swindon Town captain has missed the last two games with the problem but, after two days of full training with the Robins, he is set for a return to the matchday squad against Scunthorpe tomorrow.
McCormack will have to oust either Darren Ward or Aden Flint to reclaim his spot in the starting XI, but he is simply delighted to be able to challenge for his place once again.
“I’ve had a great week, with Claudio (Donatelli, Town’s fitness coach) at the start of the week and then back in with the boys from Tuesday, there’s been no problem.
“I was feeling very comfortable with it last week, I was stepping up from walking on it to biking on it to stretching on it and nowadays you’ve got to be so safe with what you do.
“You can’t be coming back and slightly feeling something and then bang, it goes again and you’re out for longer.
“We’ve looked at the scans and it showed that it needed a little bit of strengthening. We’ve done that and I’ve had another scan and I’ve got the all clear.
“I’m very happy with it, I’m feeling strong again and I’m fighting to get my place back.”
Meanwhile, McCormack revealed that former chairman Jeremy Wray has been to see the Swindon squad following his removal on Monday.
The Irishman insisted, however, that events in the boardroom have not had an effect on the players.
“Jeremy came down yesterday and spoke to us and thanked us for last year and we did the same to him,” he said.
“Anyone to speaks to Jeremy will know he’s very open. He’s in the dressing room after every game, he’ll have a laugh and a joke with the boys and you can knock on his door and he’s always there to speak to.
“Apart from that, not seeing him every week is the only change. What happens in the board never affects players.
“It’s not something we worry about, it’s not something we want to worry about or ever will worry about.
“If it’s between anyone it’s with the gaffer and it will probably affect him more in whatever sense that they change and don’t change.
“But in terms of players, we haven’t even spoke about, it’s only Jeremy and the gaffer who have."
