FOLLOWING a course inspection on Monday, the organisers of the Wiltshire Cross Country Championships at Grittleton House School on Saturday have decided to postpone the meeting, writes KEVIN FAHEY.
“Unfortunately, Grittleton House School had a huge amount of rain over the weekend onto ground that was already very wet,” said organiser Tim Whiting.
“The course, general grounds and car parking areas are just now too wet to use and need a prolonged period to drain and dry out.
“This is of course very frustrating and causes a good deal of inconvenience to many people, for which we are sorry.”
The event has been re-scheduled for the following week - Saturday, January 23 - with a second reserve date of January 30 also pencilled in, just seven days before the South West Schools’ Championships in Cheltenham.
