Swindon Robins’ thrilling 2007 speedway campaign is reflected with two nominations for our flagship award – the Swindon Sports Personality of the Year.

Team captain LEIGH ADAMS unsurprisingly makes the shortlist for his achievements again.

The Australian, who lives at Liddington, went as close as he ever has been to being crowned the sport’s world champion after his best-ever season on the Grand Prix stage.

He ended the season as the world number two – beaten only to the ultimate honour by the outstanding performance of Denmark’s Nicki Pedersen.

The Robins ace consoled himself with three GP victories, clinching the Swedish and Scandanavian titles, plus the crown in Latvia.

Domestically, Adams was – as usual – imperious, his average well into double figures yet again as Swindon reached the Elite League Grand Final.

Amazingly, Adams rode in that final, just a week after dislocating his collarbone in a horror crash at Reading.
