LINDA Kingston features in three of the Swindon & District Women’s Bowling Association finals at Supermarine tomorrow (Sunday), the home green of 2014 S&D Ladies president Pat Jones.

Highworth and Wiltshire Johns Trophy bowler Kingston, who recently reached the semi-finals in the national fours at Royal Leamington Spa, has qualified for the finals in the champion of champions singles, secretary’s singles and charity triples events.

She faces Wanborough’s Deanna Davis in the morning champion of champions, holder Alison Fail (Purton) at lunchtime in the secretary’s singles and, in the afternoon, teams up with club colleagues Maggie Jordan and Joanna Richman in the Charity triples against Linda Phillips, Pat Lawson & Amanda Dingle (Swindon North End).

Wootton Bassett’s Charlie Harding plays her Amy Rose county women’s rink teammate Rachel Martin (Purton) in the ladies singles and teams up with Doreen Croucher to face fellow Bassett members Ginny Nash and Bev Williamson in the pairs.

Wiltshire in county defeat

Short mat bowls: WILTSHIRE and Dorset met in a summer friendly competition, played over two home and away matches.

The first took place at Wiltshire’s home venue of Seend, the hosts winning five of the eight morning games, but Dorset evened matters in the afternoon.

In the return at the Dorset Golf and Country Club Bowls Resort in Bere Regis, Wiltshire lost five of the eight morning games, but won only four in the afternoon, slipping to a 21-19 defeat.

The county teams will now prepare for the ICC winter league and hold qualifying competitions for all disciplines (singles, pairs, triples, fours and mixed fours), from which the winners will go on to represent their county in the national finals in Derby next year.
