WESTLECOT’S bid for glory in the men’s fours at the English National Indoor Championship ended in a quarter-final defeat earlier this week.
The Swindon quartet - Kevin Embling, Chris Cheesley, Ian Jefferies and Neil Smith - progressed past the opening stay at Melton Mowbray as they won their last 16 clash.
The team claimed a 21-13 victory over Tom Hall, Colin Boston, Glenn Skipp, Paul Mosley of the Hartlepool club to progress into the last eight.
However, their run ended as they came unstuck 24-14 against Barking’s David Farr, Bill Nelson, Nigel Smith and Jamie Holmes.
Barking were 14-0 ahead against the Swindon four, but looked under pressure when the Wiltshire rink closed the gap to just three shots with only two ends left to play before sealing victory with a two and a five.
