WESTLECOT and Wootton Bassett feature prominently in the Wiltshire men’s county championship semi-finals being staged at Westlecot tomorrow.

The two clubs will be represented in both the men’s national singles and junior singles (U25s), possibly the pairs, while Westlecot will field half of the contestants in the quarter-final and semis of the two wood singles, including holder Graham Hatherall.

The Swindon club on Shrivenham Road will also be represented in the two wood singles by Carl Fernandes.

And Bassett could add to the local representation at Westlecot on Sunday afternoon if the parings of Chris Cheesley and Neil Smith plus Dave Godwin and Stephen Snell were successful last night at Holt in the men’s quarter-finals in the national pairs championship.

In the men’s singles, Bassett’s Dave Godwin meets Tom Warner (Amesbury), while in the other semi-final, Westlecot’s Mel Biggs faces Andy Colebrooke (Spencer Moulton).

The U25 singles semi-finals will see Westlecot’s Gary Jackson take on Bassett’s Kyle Anderson, while Westlecot’s Craig Hatherall takes on Holt’s Adam Bolwell.

The two wood singles is a father and son affair with Westlecot’s duo of Graham Hatherall (holder) and Mike Jackson plus their sons Craig Hatherall and Gary Jackson also through to the last eight along with Swindon’s Carl Fernandes.
