SWINDON’S two indoor clubs meet in the east section of the men’s Wessex League tomorrow morning (10am start).

Instead of the usual Wessex format of two rinks home and two away all four matches will be played in Old Town at the Westlecot club as Swindon Manor has been booked for a county coaching session.

Hosts Westlecot currently lead the east region table on 57 points, having won all four of their games, ahead of second place Carterton by 15 points with Newbury-based West Berks a further six points back in third.

In the last round of matches, Westlecot beat West Berks 86-58 while Manor secured their best victory since joining the Wessex League in 2014 when defeating Carterton 79-59.

Manor have come a long way since finishing in last place In their first season and last year they progressed to eighth spot.

This term they have already bagged two wins and stand on 28 points from only three games and are on course for their best season yet.

The victory over Carterton moved Manor into fifth but they have played one game less than Westlecot and the other two top three clubs.

Both clubs will be missing players with Westlecot trio of Craig Hatherall, Craig Morphet and Mike Titcombe plus Manor’s James Richman are playing for the Wiltshire U25s against Dorset tomorrow in the national men’s inter-county Under 25 double rinks championship.
