PLAYERS from Royal Wootton Bassett, Highworth and Westlecot will be well represented at the ladies’ and men’s finals days this weekend.

The ladies play their six finals at Alderbury today, while the men head to Devizes tomorrow.

Bassett’s Kyle Anderson will feature in three of the men’s finals as he goes in the U25 singles, the U25 pairs and the two-wood singles.

In the U25 singles, Anderson will face Highworth’s David Murray, before taking on Trowbridge Town’s Dave Betteridge in the two-wood final.

Anderson will then pair up with Westlecot’s Gary Jackson in the U25 pairs where they will meet Tom Newman (Avon) and Chris Poole (Holt).

Westlecot’s Mike Titcombe will face Holt’s Ben Gadd in the men’s singles final after stunning Spencer Moulton’s former England international Graham Shadwell 21-16 in the semi-final.

The Bassett O55 fours of Mel Biggs, Barry Sictorness, Terry Walton and Chris Cheesley will be bidding for a place at Royal Leamington Spa next month when they face Chippenham Town in the final.

At Alderbury, Bassett’s Lucy Smith will get the proceedings underway as she looks to defend her U25 singles title against Avon’s Georgina Newman in a repeat of last year’s final.

In the fours, Babs Salter’s Wroughton quartet face Alex Jacob’s Box four.

In the ladies triples final, Purton’s Chris Mitchell, Julie Jones and Alison Fail face a Salisbury trio.

Kicking-off the afternoon session is the pairs final where Westlecot duo Jayne Croston and Lynda Whittingham face four-time winners Sue Cooke and Jacobs from Box.

Wanborough’s Deanne Davis meets Box’s Jean Collier in the singles final, while in the two-wood singles final will be contested between Kathryn Yeoman and Jacobs.

WILTSHIRE Ladies recorded a double in the South West Counties league with victories over Devon and Dorset in the space of six days.

The county kicked off with a 140-95 success over Devon at South Petherton as they won on five of the six rinks.

Wiltshire then followed that up with a 128-98 win over Dorset at Alderbury after being successful on four of the six rinks.

JUNIOR COUNTY men’s side made it three wins out of three in the South West Counties League with a commanding 78-41 success over Cornwall last weekend.
