SWINDON Town Gardens’ fine run in the new northern section of the Wiltshire men’s four rink league is over.
After becoming surprise qualifiers in fourth place for the end of season play-offs, they lost in the quarter-finals to southern section champions Holt 97-60.
They won on one of the four rinks at home, with Dave Herold’s quartet winning 19-11 against Justin Davis, but Rob Popkin’s rink lost 11-35 at home to Peter Hardie.
In the two away rinks, Barry Pittuck and his son Tom both lost, Barry going down 16-23 to Craig Doughty and Tom losing 14-28 to Ben Gadd.
Dates and format for the other three play-offs have now been agreed.
Holders Royal Wootton Bassett have opted to play two rinks home and two rinks away against Amesbury tomorrow morning.
Westlecot and Spencer Moulton will meet tomorrow at 6pm, opting to play two rinks home and two away.
Highworth will play all four rinks against Chippenham Town on the neutral green at Royal Wootton Bassett on August 27.
