WESTLECOT came out on top in the Swindon indoor derby battle in the East section of the Wessex League last weekend.
The Old Town club beat Rodbourne Cheney-based Swindon Manor 79-59 and in the process, collected 14 of the 16 points that were on offer.
The win saw Westlecot move up a place to second in the table, five points clear of third-placed West Berks (Newbury) but seven behind leaders Loddon Vale (Basingstoke).
Although they only collected two points themselves, that was enough for Manor to maintain their position in seventh, one point above Oxford City & County but four adrift of Chipping Norton ahead of them.
Westlecot narrowly led 19-17 at six ends but parity was restored in the derby as the two sides were tied 32-32 at halfway.
The Old Town club edged in front again to lead 61-47 at 17 ends and finally won a hard-fought match 79-59 thanks to their two home rinks, who won combined to win 48-28.
At Manor, the two sides could not be separated as they each won one rink by the same 17-14 scoreline.
Manor have a break in their fixture list this weekend, while Westlecot face early-season leaders Chipping Norton, who have since slid down to sixth spot.
