Walcot boxers face battle in the East End FOUR young Walcot boxers are in action on Friday night when the Swindon club travel to the Fairburn ABC event in East London.

Fifteen-year-old Joe Cuss will enter the ring for the second time in six days when he meets Carl Potter from St Patrick’s ABC.

The Kingsdown pupil won his bout in Coventry last Saturday and he’ll be looking to complete a win double in London.

Eleven-year-old James Anderson will be making his ring debut when he faces Michael Maughan from the host club.

James enjoyed an exhibition bout on the Walcot show before Christmas, but this will be his first official contest.

Also in action for Walcot are Charlie Hatfield and Sammy Price.

Sixteen-year-old Hatfield meets Laiq Khan in a light welterweight contest whilst Price encounters Gulshan Nota.

Walcot chief coach Harry Scott said ahead of the event: “It’s good to see four of our lads getting a bout. They are train regularly and deserve the chance.

“It’s always tough boxing in London, but I’m sure our boxers will give it their best shot.”

The action starts at 8pm at the East Ham Working Men’s Club in East London.
