TARIQ Quaddus admits that he has found it a little hard to tone down his training during fight week.

The Swindon-based super-middleweight steps up to six round contests for the first time tomorrow night when he faces Jamie Ambler.

But the 23-year-old says it can be strange not working so hard in the final few days before the fight as he usually trains before and after work in his camp.

“Sometimes I feel like should I be doing more?” Quaddus said.

“But at the same time, my trainer Richard (Farnan) has told me between the last week, Monday and Friday, you are not going to get any fitter, the hard work has been done.

“The fitness test for me is from last fight.

“I have noticed that it has got easier and easier in the last two fights.

“I have felt at the end of the fourth round I could easily do two more.

“In the gym you are not too sure because you are in your comfort zone, the fight night is the real test.”

Quaddus is making his fourth fight in 12 weeks after returning to the ring for the first time in five-and-a-half years in March.

And the powerful body puncher says that he is getting used to his fight night preparation.

“I’m used to it now, this is my fourth one,” he said.

“It is becoming a bit of routine.

“I’m used to what we are doing which has been the same thing for the last three fights.

“It has worked for them so we are not going to change anything this time around.”

Quaddus says that he has not paid too much attention to his Aberystwyth opponent’s style despite making his debut against the Welshman.

When the pair met in October 2008, Quaddus claimed a 39-37 points success.

“I haven’t watched too many of his fights,” he said. “I have fought him before.

“When I study an opponent I only watch one or two of their rounds I don’t like to get too hyped up about it.

“I like to worry about what I’m going to do on the night rather than what my opponent is going to do.

“If you worry about your opponent then it can affect your own game plan, that is not what I want to happen at all.”

Tickets are still available for tomorrow night priced £35 for unreserved seating.
