KELVIN Young and Luke Watkins will top the bill of Keith Mayo’s latest boxing show on November 1 at the Swindon Oasis.

The IBO super-middleweight inter-continental champion will be in an eight-round contest against an international opponent, while the fight for cruiserweight Watkins will be only his third in the paid ranks.

Promoter Mayo will also have three more Swindonians on the ‘By Any Means Necessary’ show which will be officially launched on Tuesday (7pm) at the Oasis Leisure Centre with European super-middleweight champion George Groves in attendance.

Garvey Kelly, the Paddy Fitzpatrick-trained welterweight, will be making his professional debut, while former England international amateur Ryan Martin makes his long-awaited comeback having not fought since March due to a hand injury.

Mayo is also looking at securing a Bronze Masters light-heavyweight title fight for Tariq Quaddus against Sam Couzens, a two-time opponent of Young.

“We have got Kelvin an eight-rounder, it will be an international opponent, we are looking at three at the moment and we are close to getting one,” Mayo told the Advertiser.

“With Tariq, this hasn’t been confirmed yet, (but) he will be boxing Sam Couzens and they have asked if it could be for a Masters title so I’m working on that at the moment.

“It will be an eight-round fight for a Bronze Masters title and it will be a test for Tariq.

“It will interesting with it being one of Kelvin’s old foes, Tariq is happy to take the fight so is his coach (Richard Farnan) and so am I.”

The Greenbridge-based promoter is pleased that he is able to put five Swindonians on the show after contracts with Fitzpatrick were signed on Thursday to have Watkins and Kelly on the bill.

“It is good to have five lads from Swindon,” he said. “We have also got a couple of Reading boys we have used before that have got good records - Thomas Jarvis and Ricky O’Brien.

“We were also hoping to have Joe Pigford on too but he has got injured and we will now almost certainly have Tony Hill on.”

Tickets for the November 1 show at the Oasis Leisure Centre are on sale priced £60 VIP/Ringside and £35 unreserved seats. For more information visit www.kmpromotions.co.uk
