RICHARD Farnan wants to see Kelvin Young face someone who can emulate IBO super-middleweight champion Donovan George’s style on November 1.

As the 27-year-old inter-continental champion nears a crack at the main belt, the Penhill pugilist’s trainer knows the importance of next month’s eight-round contest at the Oasis Leisure Centre.

Young will share top billing on the ‘By Any Means Necessary’ show with the Paddy Fitzpatrick trained cruiserweight Luke Watkins with Farnan knowing that his charge can’t afford to slip up.

And with talks on-going with Chicago-based George and his representatives about a possible world title contest in the new year, Farnan would like to see an opponent who could mirror the world champion’s style.

“Ideally what we would like is an international opponent with a good record, we need someone who is tough, who is going to come forward, emulate Donovan George” Young’s trainer said.

“We are not doing the rounds we would be if we were fighting for a title, but we can’t have a Mexican roadsweeper come in.

“We need someone who is going to offer something for Kelv, it will be a tough fight, a very important fight and that is why we are training as hard as we are. This fight is vital.”

Farnan says that he has had Young training as if this contest in a fortnight’s time was a world title bout.

“Kelv is very close to much bigger things,” he said. “We have to treat this as his world title fight.”

Tickets for the ‘By Any Means Necessary’ show are priced £60 VIP/ringside and £35 unreserved seating. For more information visit www.kmpromotions.co.uk
