Ryan Martin insists that there will be no issues with weight when he steps into the ring next month.

The 20-year-old welterweight was forced to shed several pounds in the week before his fourth round stoppage success over Jamie Ingleby.

The former England and Walcot amateur heads to Bristol on Friday December 5 to tackle Devon-based southpaw Faheem Khan, who will come to the ring with a record of six wins and four defeats.

Martin is confident ahead of the bout on securing his third win in as many outings.

“The weight is absolutely fine,” Martin said. “The problem was that I had trained so hard for the first fight from being pretty inactive as an amateur, built up muscle and that is harder to shift.

“The weight for the first fight, it dropped off nice and easy, but the second time around I was in better shape and conditioned and struggled that little bit more.

“The body fat percentage going into a fight is absolute minimal, the muscle stays there, we are training every day, but you have just got to cut right down to get the fat off, it is difficult.”

The Islan Eltuyev-trained fighter says that if the opportunity arises he will look to claim his second stoppage win.

“If I see him go then I’m going to do the same thing,” Martin said.

“In the(Ingleby) fight I wasn’t expecting to get the stoppage until the fourth round, this guy he is tough, he comes to win, if I do get the stoppage I’ll be happy.”
