GARVEY Kelly is looking forward to a happy Christmas after returning home from Denmark victorious.

The 26-year-old father-of-three headed out to Copenhagen for his second professional bout.

And the Swindon welterweight, who claimed a shut-out victory over Matt Seawright on his pro debut last month, eased his way to a unanimous points success over Hungarian Gergo Vari on the undercard of Cecilia Braekhus’ successful world title defence.

“It was a great experience,” Kelly said after landing back in UK on Sunday afternoon.

“The whole trip was fantastic and I feel blessed that I was in that position.

“The show was pay per view out there - Cecilia Braekhus is one of the biggest names in women’s boxing.”

The Paddy Fitzpatrick-trained boxer dominated the fight over Vari securing verdicts of 60-54 on two cards and 60-53 on the other despite not scoring a knock down.

“My coach (Fitzpatrick) said that in the third round that my performance was so decisive that one of the judges scored it 10-8,” Kelly said.

“But all I did was stick to the gameplan and listen to what the coach was telling me.

“If he tells me we are going to fight a certain way then I do it - I completely trust him.”

Kelly is now not expected to fight again until February, and while he says he doesn’t need a break he is going to let the start of his professional career sink in.

“I’m going to enjoy Christmas and chill out with the family,” he said.

“I’m feeling so blessed right now.

“I’m not in a rush to have a break but the coach has told me to let it all sink in and that is what I’m going to do.
