TWO Walcot boxers at the opposite ends of the club’s age scale both won their debut bouts last month – and they are both called Fred, writes Dave Veysey.
Fred De Giles, who at 28 years of age is Walcot’s oldest active boxer, and 11-year-old Fred Bond, their youngest, both enjoyed success on their ring debuts within a week of each other in November, the only difference was that they fought at different venues.
Firstly ‘Big Fred’ De Giles beat Chepstow’s Scott Gibbs by a unanimous points decision at Chepstow Rugby Club in South Wales.
Then eight days later ‘Little Fred’ Bond beat Aiden Hirst on points at the Malmesbury ABC event in Chippenham.
