JAMIE Cox insists that there are no problems with his shoulder as he enters the final few weeks of his training camp for his comeback fight.

The 28-year-old is set to box for the first time since June 2013 on January 31 at the Swindon Oasis Leisure Centre.

And the 2006 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, who was originally set to make his ring return on December 6 before injuring his shoulder, has be sparring with unbeaten American welterweight Cecil McCalla ahead of his IBF Inter-continental title fight at Madison Square Garden.

“The shoulder is feeling fine,” Cox said. “I have been getting plenty of work done on it by Rob King and there are no issues with it whatsoever.

“I’ve started sparring now and that has been going really well. I have been working with Cecil McCalla and he is preparing for his fight at Madison Square Garden.

“The sessions have been really tough but I’m feeling strong and can’t wait for January 31 now.”

The former Commonwealth light-middleweight champion is likely to step up a division for his comeback fight.

But Cox’s team are not looking to ease the unbeaten southpaw back, with them targeting a fight for either an inter-continental or international title with one of the four main governing bodies - the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO.

“The sparring I’ve been getting has been world class, I just want to know who I’m fighting now,” Cox added.
